1936-37 Dodge truck questions

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by LeadFooted, Aug 8, 2006.

  1. Hey Guys,
This morning I spotted a stock short bed '36 Dodge truck forsale. I went back to check it out, and the only things I see missing is grille, radiator, engine & trans, the rest of the truck is all stock. On the sale sign it said it comes with a extra '37 cab with extra set of fenders.

Is the '37 cab & fneders the same as the '36 year? The gl*** is either cracked or gone, and the front fenders had some dings/dents that had been mostly been hammered back out, but needs finishing. The sticker price is $3,800 or obo, or possible trade. Is dodge/plymouth parts for these years hard to find?

The only other questions I got for the seller is about ***le, is it current, expired, or non-op. Is there a grille for it, i'm not concerned about engine or trans at this point. I'm thinking of trading my '62 C10 for it if the ***le is clean, and registration is current. Is there anything else I should ask the seller about the '36?

What do you guys think about the '36 Dodge, you think it's a good deal?
My dad thought I was off my rocker when I told him about the truck today, then he remembered the dream I had 2 weeks ago about a '36 Dodge truck. lol
    Maybe it's a sign? :D
    TIA,

I have a 38 plymouth with a 36 grille. Parts are not hard to find but they are expensive when you do find them... That price seems high to me.. I got my truck out of a barn that it sat in the last 40 years for about the same money. It was complete and after a little tinkering a runner..It is my daily driver now.. EVILT

'36 and '37 are interchangeable...those are the only two years of that exact model in the long years of other interchangable parts...(I think only the dash was different in '36-'37)...I can't remember the groupings of years for the trucks, but there are a lot of resources out there for the trucks...the engines and other driveline components are relatively unchanged for decades...I always loved those old dodges and plymouths...had a '36-'37 Dodge panel truck that I chopped into a modified roadster body...there are tons of good resources for parts, but they can get somewhat hard to find for specific things like gauges or stuff like that that never gets saved and re-sold...

I have been told latley from a guy that has a 37 dodge truck that one difference between a 36 and 37 dodge truck is the windshield. The 36 has a squared off bottom corner (think model a) and a 37 has rounded windshield corners (think 34 ford). Truck in photo is a 37 dodge

hmmmm, interesting...that would have made my panel truck a '37 then, since it had rounded edges on the bottom of the windshield frame...I'd like to see some more pics of this to confirm it...

My '37 Plymouth sedan delivery and '36 dodge pickup have identical ch***es and the windshields appear to be the same.

well, which windshields are they? the square edge or the rounded edge...it doesn't do us any good to know that they're the same if we don't know which ones they are...hahaha...

The 36 windowshield is flat across the top were as the 37 has a a curved top piece, the truck is differene width than the car windowshield frame.

  10. Thanks for the replies Guys. :)
I'm really diggin that '37.
I figured parts were going to be a little pricey, that's cool tho, as long as I can find the parts, that all that matters. :) Hell i'll just fabricate a grille from scratch.

Looks like i'm going to have to sell my truck before I can get this one. If I do, i'm going to sell off the extras I don't need, hopefully have enough to buy my nieghbors cheap suburban for the 454 & TH400, and drop it in. :)

My dad didn't like my joke about borrowing the 30K miled 440out of his RV for the '36. lol :D I thought $3,800 was alittle high myself, but would be a good price to offer the seller for the '36? :)
    TIA,

I don't know about your neck of the woods but if I were buying it AND I had the cash in my hand, I'd probably offer about $2,000. for everything if he had a ***le for at least one of them. Don't ever try to low ball anyone unless you can back it up with cash on the spot. I learned that a long time ago on both buying and selling. I really feel that 2K is too much, but then I'm known as a cheap ***** anyhow.........lol
