Hi I am building up the ch***is on my 39 Coupe project and it would be great to canvas everyone to get some ideas on your ideal ch***is ride height. So if anyone with a 39 or 40 could post 2 measurements off their ride. 1 from the bottom of front end ch***is horn to ground and 2. from bottom of back end cross member (under rear valance) to ground, that would really help. Cheers and thanks!

  2. 9" in front, 11 3/4 in rear. Bottom of running boards to ground, 5 1/2 " front and rear.. Have Driven this car to the West Coast and to Canada at this Height from Florida...

My '40's gone, but with the Mor-Drop Dago axle (1959) and flattened spring up front it was 8-1/4", (measured it for a reason)
Rear I never measured, but from @glrchotrods' pic I'd say 14". (rear tires were 8.20 X 15 bias ply)

Thanks Looks like the body sits dead level with that setup. Nice ride!

Not hijack this thread but what could I expect from reverse eyes front and rear and removing 3 leaves in each

Just been measuring my ch***is up and having a problem getting it that low due to drive shaft alignment. Engine sits at 5 degrees from level. With front end set at 10 inches ride height and back end at 14 inches the drive shaft is horizontal. This gives me driveline angles of 5 degrees or more, when it should be 3 degrees I hear. (If I lift the back of the engine it will hit the firewall, so I can't level it out) How did you set up your driveline / pinion and get the car on the level?

Sometimes you need to cut things to make parts fit. You can either make new engine/trans mounts, or cut the firewall.
