This is the first car show I have been to in years, a friend of mine brought his 55 Chevy G***er to it! Far too many cars to try to photograph them all, but here are a few shots for the HAMB universe to enjoy !
As planned on for the last 25 years while getting my 34 done and on the road, (in 2017) I got my 34 inside the gate Saturday. Found out that at my age now and with this unexpected heat we are having, it was a struggle for me. Great show, mostly excellent cars. I also found out that while I always loved this, it isn't for me any longer. Old man time has taken the desire and romance out of the experience I once enjoyed so much and could hardly wait to attend. There was a time I hit every weekend car show, Saturday and Sunday. The old desire and body just ain't there anymore. So I plan on keeping the old girl in the shop, doing what my limited body parts will let me accomplish in different aspects of renewal and driving her once in awhile and perhaps doing the local Lyons show if it comes back. I have a brother 4 years younger than me at 78 who has had the same insane car affliction as I, and when telling him this he said he agreed and feels the same. I was so happy though to get my best bud inside the gate by accident though, (I owe him a lot and he won't accept anything but a, "Hey thanks Jim!!". We planned on going together, but I decided to get there at opening. He likes to get to these things around 10, so he decided to drive his recently finished (except for interior carpets) '54 Bel Air Chev. now on a 96 Vette ch***is, red with silver top and back fender insert and park out side. I give him the p*** I got the night before. When he showed at the parking at the rear gate he chanced it, showed his p*** and the attendant said go ahead. I was just inside, he parked next to me and we cruised the show together. Was great, that,........... as I'm sure that's the last one I'll be able to do that with him. One other thing. Back in the early 90's I campaigned a '66 Buick Riviera GS, factory dual quad car. So special that at the Buick Nationals it placed 2nd in Modified division, (I believe these to be more than the 63 through 65 models) in appearance. My point is that for the 20 years I showed the car there were no other '66 Rivi's in the shows I attended. At Puyallup I saw three, one chopped even. So glad to see them finally getting there well deserved due as great cars.
Thanks for the reply DDD. Great, great Roadster. Your son and his family are very fortunate getting that sweet ride from Dad. When my term is up and my wife remains she will need the $$$$$$$$. My Bud I mentioned will make sure she gets what it is worth. He has built over a hundred and sold them in his life. I mentioned my '66 Rivi. I had 3 daughters. The middle one p***ed in '17, she was my "car" daughter and planned on the Rivi. being hers. Horrible thing that, and now the Rivi lives in another's garage.
Looks like it was a picture perfect day for car show...thanks for sharing what caught your eye @41 GMC K-18
