Cool truck and awesome build .. so the old motor was a 8ba with a wide belt but don’t see a fan? What motor will you be running? The reason I ask is I am building or putting back on the road a 32 truck with a 53 merc motor
The Transition belongs to my son. I am old hardtail guy...currently on this steel Ragley 29'r Now back to hot rods. I did some trading with my brother and he rebuilt me another 39 trans, this time with 16/28 Ford gears... I also gathered up all of the front suspension pieces, made necessary repairs and sent them off for blasting and semi-gloss black powder coating More to come in the next few weeks...
It's some sort of tape, but they always remove it before parts are picked up, so I'm not sure what it is. The shop I use does a lot of early Ford parts, so they know what to mask. Makes it nice.
Neal, as always, you do First Class work. I think about your GMC grille moustache turned into a 32 Ford radiator shell frequently.
You might want to be a little more careful where you park that heap in the future, could get expensive
I am putting a 59AB in this pickup, but did an 8BA in the patina Fordor. I used wide belt truck pumps, a 39 standard type pulley on a 12V 8BA style generator with a 35-36 fan. See pic below...
I scrubbed the whole truck with this. It really brought back what light blue/grey paint was left. I had some semi-gloss paint mixed to roughly match, that I have been painting any replaced parts or repaired areas.
Thanks Neal! Beating back the light rust a little, and adding some paint to help preserve the metal, seems like a great idea to me! The not too ruff around the edges look, is an added bonus.
Nice work saving and rebuilding the original parts. Plus your small upgrades along the way. Truck looks like will be a lot of fun to drive around.

It was on the truck, but assumed it was just an aftermarket auto parts item. 49-52 truck, with the second groove machined off, so it would clear the crossmember better.
Love the attention to detail, the quality of the mechanical work like the 39 trans upgrades ,changes on the flatty truck water pump pulleys etc. Sweet truck and love your shiney 4 door with the burgundy wheels . Enjoy the fruits of your labor !!!

32 Ford pickups make no sense. Many of us have owned them. There isn't much space. But they have the hot rod appeal that many desire. It's also the most affordable mode to a steel 32 Ford. The magic that it has lasted for decades. With that in mind, Neal, I'm sure you will make a great rod out of this. You're off to a good start.
Didn't get much accomplished on the pickup, as I was at the local fair watching my daughter's FFA livestock competitions. I did do a wheel and tire swap with my Fordor, as I wanted to see what the maroon Kelsey's would look like on the closed cab pickup. The Fordor got the Lincoln Zephyr wheels and caps... So I could try these out on the pickup... The 3.54 rear end is about done, just need to run brake lines. I did just buy one of these tubing straighteners, so I can use bulk rolls of tubing. The local auto parts store are only carrying the green tubing. While easier to work with, I don't care for the look. Until next time...
I think the Kelseys look good. Are you going to remove leaves from the rear spring? any idea how many?
I have it set up with 8 leaves, reversed eye main leaf and 41 shackles. I've done the last 2 cars that way and have been happy with the ride height. We'll see how it works out on this one.
