Is the Coe forum a social group that will be gone? Dave

yes it is and it sure sounds like "yes it will"... what a huge loss and all our builds will simply be deleted... that's really not very nice, but not surprising as we've been summarily told to GFOurselves before when we were banned from the HAMB proper and sent to a social forum because we're not generally "traditional hot rods" by someone's standard....

  4. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep building on mine until it is finished. If any of you guys want to stay in touch, I see two ways to do it, PMs through the main board, or personal emails. I will start a newsletter (maybe once a month) to those who want to be updated on the Autocar if you send me an email addy by PM

im not savvy enough to know how, but is there a way to start a new COE forum outside of the hamb with all those still interested enough to keep this going? Would be a real shame to see us all go our seperate ways......
I always go to this group first before looking/lurking on the main board.

well, ****.... I didn't realize our security was quite so threatened.... Guess I was just distracted by politics and that-thing-that's-going-around!
And Lex, yes, there is a way but it isn't exactly easy. The cost is what becomes a hurdle. We've all become accustomed to "free digital food" and choose to let our "subscription" lapse when the bill comes due. Why pay when what we wanted was free, except it isn't. Ad revenues, premium membership dues, etc...
I've long thought to look into what it takes to start a forum but am quite afraid the scale of our community would prove prohibitive. So some form of diversification would be in order.
And I'd sure hate to lose what we have here, as modest as it is...
I'll be downloading what content I want to keep and would encourage others to do the same.
Hope I can finish my salvage prior to the purge!
Ryan has done a heck of a job building this "place" and the GJ into what they are, I can't help but think there's room for compe***ion to fill in the gaps that he's continuing to exclude...

    and then I see these:

I know Jeff @ guthrie smith and think this is most likely our avenue forward. If it's truly worth it to us, we're gonna need to get some skin in the game.
I'll be closely reconsidering an alliance membership in the coming days.

are details available on the aforemented Allicance membership... I would certainly not be opposed to something like that.. I too have begun extracting my build thread as I do not want to lose 10 years of build info... Unfortunately, I only have found cut and paste which is very painful... any other ideas?

    what browser are you using?
I use Chrome and in the (hidden) dot-dot-dot's in the upper right of my screen I find:
    upload_2021-8-13_9-57-40.png
save a whole page as html?
that can then be opened later locally on a browser.

the banner at the top of every HAMB page will lead you to the alliance membership opportunity.

$50/yr. = vendor discounts and a dash plaque with your avatar name
the best place to hide anything is always in plain sight!
ps. I had to hunt it down too...

I'll be damned, right there in dot-dot-dot... It does save as but doesn't take the pics... cut and paste does save the pics. Either way I get to extract 31 pages....

Even though I don't type out a post here all that often, this group is really the main reason I get on the Hamb anymore. I understand that our stuff doesn't fit the main board, unfortunately it doesn't seem to fit anywhere that I have found. The closest was probably Pirate4x4's hauler and trailer sub forum, but that didn't last either and honestly was nothing older than me on there, but cool info and builds none the less.
I am on FB, but not active, for sure don't want to try and look for this type of content on there..

I don't really have any good ideas, hopefully whatever Ryan comes up with won't eliminate us or cost him too much time and effort.

The 7 pages seem to hint that our COE social forum might be spared an untimely death... I just signed up as an alliance member to help fund the cause a bit... we'll see...

I think as a group we might survive on the Antiquated forum, with limitations on OT content. What I hate is the potential loss of all the past threads/info/pics. Waiting to see how it all shakes out....

I just read the whole thread and it sounds like Ryan will do everything possible to keep the active groups around somehow. Sure would be a shame to lose this awesome little corner of the world.

I successfully cut and pasted my build thread into a Word doc, however the file is so freakin big that I can't subsequently open it.... fail....

Ok, I think I got it licked... Copy and Paste into some do***ent, Save As HTML... that keeps the pics, format isn't perfect, but completely readable.... I did 5 pages so far, no problem saving it or opening it after the save.... Now, only 26 more pages to go....
