@Stogy thanks for the shoutout in the other thread! I’ll keep pushing to find it! It’s somewhere in New England or Rhode Island!

All - I have confirmation from the owner of the car that in 1962/3 he sold it to a guy possibly from Cape Cod. He took out the 48 Merc engine and out a small block chevy.

the search continues in cape cod!

Took a chance and bought cool cars and square roll bars and it was featured on page 130/1!!! What luck! It was in the 1958 Hot Rod and Custom Cars Worlds Fair in the Springfield Armory in MA! The build sheet in the photo calls it a 34, not a 33 like the magazine had stated it was! Not many differences but it could be to some people! Keep your eyes peeled!

That says 1934 Ford on the showboard.
I turned 13 about the time that time and bought that issue at the grocery store on Bainbridge Island wa with half of my 50 cents a week allowance. I just remember that I thought it was a really cool car at the time.

@Derek Dandurand, If I had bought it back in the day you'd have given me a pat on the back if I had it now as I probably would give you a great deal to get it back and I wouldn't have changed a thing...Your Grandpa had good Eye...That Show pic Rocks!!...perhaps you should persue a replica...it would feel like finding it as it comes together...and if you do someday find the Holy Grail so to speak worry about it then...do a build Thread here, that would be EPIC...;)

.. still bothers me that I've never stumbled upon the thread, discussed earlier.

This car in a wood floor trailer, stolen or recently recovered photo .. of it sitting on the wooden floor of a semi trailer.

Northeast part of the country post, here on the HAMB.

The problem is finding a 33/34 Ford body/chassis that hasn’t been chopped in decent condition that’s affordable! I’ve been searching for one too as it may be an option at this point!

My grandpa sold it in 1960 for $1k!

Yes, definitely reach out to Matt. He uncovers the most incredible obscure old car stashes!

It's possible the new owner got midway through the engine swap and never got the car back together. And it sits, torn apart in a garage somewhere.
    Time and time again we see perfectly good Hot Rods sold and the new owner promptly tears into it with intentions to 'make it his own' and never gets it back together. There are also plenty of instances where the ol Hot Rod has a mechanical failure or gets in an accident, gets parked and never repaired/driven again. Or just plain parked, like this one salted away in 1958;
    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=48549

This may be why nobody has seen the car.

We think of the car as being "too nice" to change up into a Street Rod, but if someone picked that up for a few grand as a "blank canvas" in the late 60's-early 70's, all bets were off. Hundreds of old Hot Rods were unceremoniously "updated" with little or no regard to their history, even semi famous/famous cars. The Northern Star 34 Ford and American Graffiti 55 are prime examples that come to mind.

Here's to hoping it survives somewhere in a garage relatively intact, waiting to see the light of day.

No. Post #5 with @kiwijeff was 2016. Sometime in or around then.

I just recall a thread with a front view with "I believe" .. the car sitting on its hubs. Inside of a large trailer.

This car stands out in its uniqueness. I lean on East Coast style builds as it is, preferentially. My visual recall usually over weighs my organizational skills, though .. unfortunately.

Wish I could answer your question, more directly. With results.

Definitely here, somewhere .. buried in the H.A.M.B.

Thank You. Liked the car ever since I saw it on the cover of an old Car Craft mag I bought years ago. Always wanted to know more about the build and now I do.

Fingers Crossed for you indefinitely Derek...

I was actually thinking of you today because there was a Hotrod that reminded me of Grandpas Hotrod...I don't believe it is however...I did do a lengthy search for the Hotrod Kid and Kiwi were speaking of...no dice...

This is the one on the right is the one that caught my eye...Hamber @titus shared this image and a friend of his, Louie owns the 32 and the other was his friends...apparently it was a survivor and was sold some time ago but the trail ended there...

    Quoted by Titus...

"Louie said it was sold in the late 90s early 2000s and doesnt know where it went unfortunately."

Whether it is or not I thought I'd share it...I will say there are many differences including the grille but these Hotrods went through major transformations so again never know...I'm wondering if it was chopped a couple of inches as in the 32 pic it looks lower but that could be an illusion...

@Derek Dandurand, Check out the Link under the pic...Titus shared all the pics he had of it...it's one cool Hotrod...

High Fives to Titus and Louie...

Perhaps Titus can run the 59 cover by Louie...but if it's a 34 and was chopped I'd say nada...

thanks so much! I don’t think it’s the car either. The photos are from 1955. My grandfather didn’t finish till 57 and sold it in 59/60.

@kidcampbell71, @kiwijeff do you remember any keywords or phrases used in the Thread you're referencing such as Trailer find, old Hotrod capsule...

It might crack the search...I've searched pretty extensively but a certain goofy description might be the silver bullet...;)

Nah'. Already did same, Stogy. Something about "found, recovered, or similar".

It was a wooden floor TOFC/semi trailer. Coupe sitting on its hubs, towards the back of.

Who knows ? So many similar title threads, but the look of the car .. got me. My favorite style.

Love 'em all .. but East Coast, cycle fendered, track nose .. grabs the attention. It was THAT car.

That's one of the disadvantages of Many old Threads...I tried to search out those x'd boxes...no luck...They never mentioned a Stolen thread did they?......they did...

Your doing the right thing though...there's a lot of history here to search...good at that...and yeah theres a good possibility that the pics are gone...they say around 2016

It's a northeast U.S. .. HAMB thread. A New England area, HAMB'r. Apologies from a Texan if I may be mislabeling the area.

Could be Mass., New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or similar. That's all I recall.
