for anyone new to adjustable suspension, my suggestion is to start with bags. I found hydraulics much more difficult to work with and learn. If you mess up the plumbing on air, you wont ruin everything around you like with hydro fluid. I prefer hydraulics because of what they can do over bags, but that is changing. We made a caprice wagon on bags pull a HUGE three wheel around corners on bags. Pull a rear 3 wheel with cylinders. Dont like compressors? Run nitrogen or co2 Put silencers on your exaust valves I have never accomplished it, but with gas, some guys are hopping their bagged cars pretty high (check out Lowrider this month) Hydros take up A LOT of space. but they are way cooler than bags This currently is my only juiced car and I am always repairing something.
hey Groucho! you know my felling about bags! just cut that pancho out and lay it! and show all these people that dont know shit about juice how its done!!
if you need accumlators to make your car ride nice you are doing something wrong! all my cars have juice! my daily has juice never any problems!
Groucho, It sounds like you did your homework on Hydros and made up your mind already.....But just food for thought, you must be checking out some old Airbag systems because you can run an airbag system with constant running air from an EDC (Engine Driven Compressor) unit that connects to your motor and you wouldn't need to have the compressors in the trunk and they got filters now where you can silence the air sound completely........Thats right no sound at all! And you can do it all by remote control. I would call the BagMan in Anahiem before i did anything and see what he can hook you up with...He's badass. you can get a hydro set up a tiny bit cheaper than bags MAYBE !the won thing thats always over looked with hydros is the price of batterys 50.00 to 75.00 a piece and the hastle of charging them! our shop by the way will do hydro installs as well. give me a call will cut threw all the B.S. about bolth hydros and air. 408 561 5744 (any one whos a aliance member i will do my BEST to beat any air bag prices out there)
the car in question is it a four coil spring car?if it is bags are just as easy .if you can juice a car you can bag one.shit i started out on juice , you can bag the fn car. dose your desision got to do with $$$$ grouch call me! alex 408 561 5744
depends on the size of the whole but yes i have pluged a whole with a tire plug to get home.....and senn alot of people around here to cheap to replace a bag and plug it with a tire plug and ride like that for a while wirth a tire plug in there bag...but when your on side of the road and only have select goods you do what you have to...also with my hydros previos years back on my mini truck when it had hydros on it back in 94..i was out cruising and one of my dumps on my pump blew a seal shit nothing was open to repair...lol...this was funny and people still laugh about this ..i used a comdom to replace the seal...pulled out the internal dump took off the busted seal ..cut the end off the comdom rooled it tight put it around the dump and finished my cruising for the eveing...lol made it home with no probs..wasnt my idea it was the guy that installed the hydros..glad he was out that night...
the front has no accumaltor..just the rea because the cylinder is mounted straight to the rearend..no springs...so yea befor i got the accumalators it rode like shit...what im saying about the accumalator is you dont have to use springs at all if you use accum...and it will ride like a brand new caddy
Heres the first problem 1 ton springs will ride like shit!!! That goes without saying I use 10 inch coils in the front and 12 in coils in the back and and the ride is sweet!!! I got three cars on juice and will never own a car on bags!!! The lag time for air sucks, the noise of it dropping sucks the fact that when the bag is deflated your spring rate is low and when its inflated or lifted the spring rate gets stiffer basically means your car rides differently high and low while the lifts have the same spring rate at all times. Basically people hacked hydraulics in with a torch for years and gave it a bad name just like people are using cheap crappy parts on bags and they leak so they are getting a bad name. This is my opinion based on my own experience and you know that opinions are like*&^%$#@@@ Anyways have you ever seen an airplane on AIRBAGS???? NOPE !!!! Thats cuz they use hydraulics!!!! PS every one that has riden in my hudson cant believe its on hydraulics cuz it rides way better than stock. Check my post on "1938 zephyr build" it kinda shows how I do rear lifts I will be doing the front shortly LTR Dave
What the heck is there to maintain??? Groucho set it up with 2 batteries but paralell not in series so its still 12 volts just like one big battery!!! Series is where the pos is connected from one batt to the neg of the next put 10 batteriess together like that and it would be 120 volts!! Parelell is neg to neg and pos to pos so you got one big batery no charging hassles cuz a good altenator will do it and no maintanence!!! Also buy the cheap setup if you want from prohopper but upgrade the cylinders to competition ones as they have 2 rubber o rings and two neoprene ringson the piston so the dont score up the cylinder unlike the cheap ones wich just have 2 rubber o rings!!! ther really isnt maintenance like people keep saying unless you build a hopper and beat the crap out of it. Sounds like you just want a simple street setup If anybody wants help or info just ask me I will share what I know. im going catch shit for thia but has any body seen the stickers floating around that say" Bags are for fags" i need some. Thats not really my opinion but i would like some stickers LTR Dave
like i said i own a caddy with hydros and a 39 chevy with bags and if i had the extra cash to swap over to bags on my caddy i would in a heart beat...BUT the price was right when i wanted the car to lay down on the ground...(switches are for bitches)..lol
