41 ford brakes

    i have a 41 ford rear im trying to get cleaned up. the problem im having is how do i get the upper adjuster out so i could paint the backing plates. also does someone sell the springs

    Leave them in you are opening a can of worms. They usually aren't even taken out when being chromed. They are riveted in.

    The upper adjusters are installed as a backing plate ***embly, they do not come apart unless you grind the swedged head off the cam. Springs are not available but you can get Stainless steel adjuster bolts. If yon want more info on the bolts PM me.

    As stated above I would leave them alone they where put in a certain way with the tabs on the inside adjustment tab. Usally one you remove them you will not beable to re-install them.

    Remove the adjusters for a more effective clean up. They really need to be removed for a quality chrome job. Stainless replacement adjusters are available and easy to install. Check with **** Spadaro he has them in stock. Ron

    Thompson garage has rebuild kits. Springs and all. Leave the adjusters in though!
