Is there any way to tell the difference between the original and the new X1 intake? Any date codes etc? I bought what I am sure is an original but then found out they are reproducing them so I probably paid way too much.

Just looked as my original in cupboard. Weathered appearance to casting, looks used and definitely not new. Couldn't seek any date castings though.

One way, if yours is drilled for 4 bolt (Rochester) carbs its original - the new ones only seem to come in 3 bolt (edelbrock probably wants to push their 94 carbs)

Mine has br*** freeze plugs on the sides. This one is a Edelbrock X2 for a pontiac but can't get to the x1 or x3 .

I've had mine for over 10yrs now before Edelbrock started repopping them and it's 3 bolt. Here's both versions and my cruddy old one sitting on the cupboard. It hasn't been welded up and redrilled and has 2 x br*** freeze plugs on either side.

Let me know if anyone has a Pontiac 6x2 or 4x2 intake they want to sell. Thank you!

Here’s the type I have for my Pontiac engine it’s 6 by 2 logs there originally made for the nascar performance edition engines that where being produced In 56’ for nascar racing of the Pontiac V8 316 engine. The carbs are three bolt 9 super 7 stromberg’s that mount to it.
