Hi Marty, That photo you posted from McMinnville, OR looks familiar. Would this color photo capture be the Day and Nite team from Seattle? It was part of my 1959 December drag racing film from the huge West vs East Meet at Riverside Raceway. The headers look similar and despite being 1959, the similarities are there. So, could it be the same FED? The idea of the huge drag race meet was that the famous racers from the East/Midwest, The Greek, Don Garlits, Bobby Langely would head out West to challenge the big names from So Cal and the Westcoast of the USA. Jnaki The blue FED is one that I thought was from out of state, but for the life of me, could not get a good verification of the name of the team. So, could it be the same FED as in your photo? It could be the same, but the @Marty Strode photo vs the film has some differences, too. Any help is appreciated. Also, included it a Red FED from the same meet, they were parked next to the Blue FED in question. Perhaps, another FED from the PNW? 1959 Riverside Raceway
The Golden Greek, pictured in the Golden Age of drag racing finally retired well into his Golden Years. Chris was hospitalized in Germany in 1945 after a towing accident when he served in the Army. Assuming he was 16 then that would make him 91 or 92. He claims to be 89, I guess only he knows for sure.
Pisano Bros vs the Grist Bros. Blown Sbc vs injected Lincoln. With those big collectors that Willys really howled. Never saw their Model A run but I saw it in their shop partially covered, I didn't realize it was a gasser until later.
Jnaki, I see so many differences in the two cars, the height of the body, at the motor plate is a major one. I can't find any other pictures of the Day and Nite car, to compare.
this is early mokan dragway home of the hamb drags I know where the Harley Estes car is and i think that might be frank grills in the altered coupe and if it is I know where that car is too it is still owned by frank himself
This picture was kind of a fooler, for me at least. I looked at it several times assuming it was shot in the pits somewhere behind the bleachers. Then I finally realized it was a bunch of rail cars in the background after I saw the "Santa Fe" placard on one of the cars. Looks like maybe a bunch of empty auto transport cars to me.
