If you need to mix a little JB Weld or similar epoxy. Take a beer can and turn it upside down. It makes a perfect small mixing cup.

Not a tip, unless someone has one. A few days ago I was dealing with radiator hoses, doing and undoing the clamps several times, the bottom of which takes a bit of contorting to get to. No immediate injury, but later my arm began aching from the wrist back halfway to the elbow. Next day, even wrapped in an Ace bandage, I could not use it, left hand only. Now, three days later, I have some use of it but can not do any rotational movement.

Anyone dealt with this? I bought a wrist brace that velcros around the arm, that helps some.

^^^Next time find the right socket for the radiator hose clamp and use a 1/4 inch ratchet or similar device. Even the little ratcheting hand screwdriver type drive helps me because it requires less muscle... which is sadly becoming more and more evident as time rolls on!:D

PS Theraworx relief stuff available at Rite-Aid, CVS, and Walgreen, among other places, might help... it does wonders with a cramp and even better at preventing them.;)

Not much of a tip but useful to me. When cutting a pipe (or anything hollow) on the horizontal bandsaw after the blade has made its way downward far enough sticking a piece of wooden dowel or metal bar stock inside will catch the off fall and save you the trouble of picking it up off of the floor. b-t-w; the round stock just rolls on top of the blade. No harm is done to it other than the discoloration due to contact with the (by now filthy) smooth side of the blade. Many (most?) of you are in my age bracket and understand the inconvenience/discomfort of picking up things from the floor. 20210831_101316.jpg

Google Carpal Tunnel sounds like a possible mild case of it to me.

  10. Like phatrat said, carpel tunnel syndrome. I am dealing with it now. Try some anti-inflammatory like an NSAID

I use one of those "compression gloves". It's like an elastic sleeve with a thumb hole that covers about half your palm so your fingers are free. It helps a bunch when using a vibrating tool like a weed eater, or hammering, or even riding a motorcycle...

Similar effects after shop time. Don't even know what I did but next morning, woke up with a useless hand. Felt like I had hit myself between thumb and forefinger area with a ball-peen hammer. I was crippled with it for a whole day. Next day, I woke up, the hand was back to normal. Still don't know what the hell that was all about.

  13. Get some Pro-Emu cream. I thought it was snake oil before trying it. Now, if it is muscle, joint or tendon pain, it is my go-to and works every time.

Carple Tunnel is a painful bastard. Only thing you can do is wear CT wrist braces, They sell a couple styles at the drugstore and they will help. Then take 4 Ibuprofen and wait it out, unfortunately Gets worse at night or when you are laid down.

Dealt with same issue off and on over the years at work. In my case the longer I wore the support the longer I had the pain, use the support a couple days then go with out and issue will fade out in day or two. There was a fellow at work that wore a support for six months, I kept ragging at him to take it off, finally did to shut me up, pain gone in day or two.

  17. Now you know what to do with those broom handles that were just cut down so many times they were too short.
I have had carpal tunnel problems for about 25 years, braces worn at night and exercises work, but, if you use and abuse your hands, it will steadily get worse as we get younger---oops, older. The doc said if you don't want to get it, don't use your hands -ever. I bit the bullet and "had it done" with surgery. Fantastic, never woken up at night again with a painful hand. Maybe that's why my mum made me sleep wearing boxing gloves.

I put a piece of pipe foam insulation between material being cut and rear blade support, as it gets cut it wipes chips off the blade.

When I put a car on a lift, the first thing I do Is wipe off all the oil and grease drips from the engine, transmission, and differential. It keeps them from getting in my hair as I work under the car.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Funny, like you said, I went to work today without the brace, and by the afternoon it felt much better. May have just been healing anyway, but sure glad to get over it.

not that this is a medical forum, there are other forms of treatment for carpal tunnel rather than what the poster quoted saying “only thing” you can do is…..
What he recommended is only for very mild Carpal tunnel. There are other several other options available.

Carpal Tunnel problems can be managed with specific massage techniques. A Dr. Kate Montgomery wrote a great book that shows these techniques and I've been using them for years. The book is called "End your Carpal Tunnel pain without surgery". Amazon has it, but you can find it elsewhere and keep Bezos out of your pocket.

I know what you're thinking. My Dad stood at my bedroom door once and said "If you keep doing that, you'll go blind!" I said "Dad, I'm over here!"
