My Favorite is the purple chopped 41 coupe owned by Harold Ellie of Windsor Fabrication Fame. Hardtop styling, sits right and is driven all over the states. Sorry, no pictures.

I am a die hard hot rod guy but I do like customs, the Barris shop has turned out some beauties in their day,and yeah the 41 Ford in my opinion never was a looker but they did fair well as customs, a top chop or Carson styled top and lowering they didn't need too much more to differentiate them from their stock counterparts.

Personally, I think the 41 Fords make better customs than the 39/40 Fords. HRP

A LaSalle grill takes away a lot of the ugly on a 41.....

  7. I've always mostly liked the '41 front end, I thought it was was a nice segue between the '40 and '42. The main failing was the bumpers, that's been corrected on this car with '42-46 bumpers.

  9. Thats a good looking 41. I happen to dig the one year only grille.

Sam Foose has done at least one of them as well.
Sam Foose fixed the bumper issue. Love 41s.

I've always been partial to 41 ragtops as my dad had one when he got back from the South Pacific and when he and mom got married. They do look better customized though. Dads 41 ragtop.jpg

Okay, I'll bite. @Ryan "The ’41 Ford, in any form, is the ugliest pre-1965 Ford to ever roll out of Henry’s factory."
I would say it's hands down the '59.

I also like the Ed Jacques coupe by Valley Custom.

And of course this one, but that's an obviously biased answer. :(

  13. I’ve always liked the 41s. And you can giggle all ya want.
I’ve always thought a 38 Ford was the ugliest of the “hot rod” era Fords. But I’d still drive the wheels off one.
custom taildraggers rule. Hot rods are 34 down for me. Everything else is a custom.

  14. I always thought the front end was too "Edsel-ish". Kind of a puckered face look. The '42 was better looking IMHO. '46 - '48 were better.

my preference is 41 merc, 42 ford, 41 ford. In the right combo of color/trim I don't think there is a real snot ugly one, from 29 to 51.

Jesse Lopez? @jivin jer Jerry’s tribute is one gorgeous car.
‘41 front end has a little menacing look about it, me gusta.

I would drive the wheels off of that phantom truck.

Ooops, sorry, guess that wasn't what you were looking for. (Or maybe it was.)

I guess I would be laughed at and Ma ridiculed......I used to think they were ugly too but I have over the years come to admire most of the lesser thans and now realize under the watch of a builder that gets it almost anything....ALMOST anything can be a jaw dropper...

Having hung around here over the years has been a big part of that readjustment in what ugly is defined as...

41's certainly lend themselves to Custom over Hotrod and that many times is what makes or breaks a admirable experience the right choice in direction...

There really is no need to ditch the grille either as it just needs some well applied Makeup...but if it is to be discarded in lieu of another fix that's fair game too...

My favorite 41 is the sedan that was my daily for several years, the plan was to swap the front sheetmetal to 46-48 but i figured I would be different and keep the original sheetmetal

I think Paul Bragg's is going to be right up there near the top when it is done. It was being painted last I saw but haven't seen the finished car.

Jessie Lopez, **** carter, Johnny varo , Jack Stewart, bill Gaylord, Wally Welch, Ed Jacques, snooky janich, bill boren, Harold Larson all icon 41 fords. One of the most kustomized rides of the cl***ic period . They have the lines to make a killer kustom. Some don’t get it.. more for us

Really? The early to mid '50s Barris cars literally defined the template for how kustoms are built. Kinda surprising to read that.

Maybe it's more in reference to junior as many Barris conversations revolve around his lack of his Fathers expertise...

Come on guys, pay attention to what was asked for! Again:
Ryan: "your answer has to include some elements of the stock ’41 Ford grille."

It's not about every 41 Ford ever customised or even favorites.
