I used a Rebel Wiring kit when I rewired my '39 p/u and converted to 12 volts. No problems. I'm in the process of rewiring/converting to 12 volts my '54 Ranch wagon after the 302/AOD swap. Again using a Rebel kit. Don't anticipate any issues except for my inevitable bone head mistakes on my part. But if I run into a problem that I can't figure out Rebel's tech support is reported to be top notch. And, in addition to being USA made they are an Alliance Vendor as well. JMO and others will/have other opinions about wiring kits.

You are building a g***er so there is only so much wire needed. My wiring from the box back was good and we made the rest. IMO open headers will wear you out. I looked at the electronic slide things but they are pricey and add complications. We put screw in plugs and straight pipes with augers.

Open headers are GREAT!!!(Yes I'm yelling!!! and you know why!) I live in a beach town (see avatar) that sees a lot of motorcycles too. The poe-poe here are real understanding about noisy vehicles. Now don't do full blown burn outs with open headers or you'll get a ticket but......cruis'in around with an occasional romp-romp is fine.
    Your town may vary.
IF I go for a long drive I.....cap'em up.
Your sheet metal skillz are plenty enough to get that g***er fixed up!!! Nice job.
The less you need to 'buy' the more $$ to put in the go department.
    I'll be following this 'un!
