I have started a build. I am looking for a 1931 model a radiator for a flathead motor and has the water neck at the top so i can run a stock 1931 A grill shell. I dont care if its a fake water neck, i just like the look of the neck and cap sticking out. Besides, i would not like to look at the shell with an empty hole. Has anyone found one?

Br***works. Lee will make one anyway you want. Pricey, but top notch. Be prepared for a wait time of at least a couple of months.

Allso if you take a Original style cap apart the center screw , you can put cap on top make a bigger washer under neath , to hold to shell

    Thanks all.
I was hoping to find one that was readily available that met all my "wants"
I had already begun thinking about how i could make it look right if i did not find one with a filler neck.

Hello Ben; seems you and I are going down similar roads here, so I thought I would put in my proverbial "2 cents". My build is a 31' Ford Roadster with a 59ab. I like you wanted to keep the stock Model A grill shell. Both 51504bat and 19Eddy30 are spot on with their info. I went with Br***works and it came in close to 1K. Talk to Lee if you go that way. I know it's pricey but I figure it's an area I didn't want to scrimp on. Mine is a 4 row core and it's 3 1/2". I'll post some pictures of mine and hopefully it will give you some direction. Let us know how you make out. Take care and stay safe. IMG_8271 (1).JPG IMG_8272.JPG IMG_8273.JPG IMG_8274.JPG IMG_8275.JPG IMG_8276.JPG IMG_8277.JPG

Back in 90s when When my Peterbilt
Rad was 1k ,that it was going to be the most expensive Rad I would ever pay,
20ish year's later several @ $850 plus for Cooper/ Br*** For hobby driven vehicle , yes there are aluminum ones cheaper , most , pretty much none bolt in correct & look out of place.

Hey Ben good to see that you are making progress. They all take time so keep on plug-in’!! Mine is on the road and have not had any issues with the radiator at all. I’ll post a picture of mine now and if you can show us what you got going on. Good luck 83831A80-927C-4117-A70E-816738854993.jpeg C0CF029A-2A8D-4DF6-9014-2956C299E1B9.jpeg

I purchased this one from Champion Cooling after several gave positive reviews.

I know it's aluminum and I know what most think of aluminum radiators, BUT it appears to be made well and looks to fit nicely. I'll know more tomorrow, but here's first indications of alignment...

Crab distributor sure helps! Will be running a '37 21-stud.

    Brett,
did you get it with or without the trans cooler? Can it be ordered without?
Are you putting a model a radiator grill/cover on it? if so how does that fit?
    thanks

Offset cap. Get creative and dummy a cap on 30/31 grill cover if you have to go that route. I’ve run both grille covers (32 and model a) on the car. They interchange with no fuss fyi. That’s with a chin, fenders and a hood!

Ben, It comes with a trans cooler. I asked about getting one without, or what should I do with the cooler ports. Champion said it only comes with, but most insert metal plugs or just leave the blue plastic plugs in place to keep the bugs and dirt out.

I am waffling on which surround to use...I have a rough 32 shell that matches the patina, but the lower portion is kinda butchered. It fits well, but the tabs may have to be modified. The 31 fits fine.

    Thanks Guys,
I will look into the cost of the walker but may go with the other.
I am using the Model a shell.
