Um...Uh... WTF!?!?! Oh the humanity!

 

In 1966 I was a Junior in HS and WCFL and WLS were the two big radio stations competing for listeners on the AM band. **** Orkin, a radio ad man, started a long running weekly series called Chickenman that s****ed action heroes. The bit opened with “Bok, bok, bok, bok! He’s here, he’s there, he’s everywhere! It’s Chickenman!”
I don’t know if the Chicken Delight restaurant used that with permission or ripped it off but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a Chicago carry out joint.
Orkin, RIP, had a great voice, well suited to radio and he had a career that lasted over 50 years.

This brings back memories. Had a high school friend that was nicknamed "Chickenman". He still goes by it today or just "Chicky".

 

I hung the Chickenman moniker on a friend 55 years ago and it morphed into Bird. He still answers to that today.

 

Out here in New Mexico I'd listen to the Chickenman skits on a small portable AM/FM radio.
I'd slip the radio under my pillow and listen as I laid in bed
