    No. They're not.

Also pointing to the frame and hood being the same has nothing to do with the the depth of the shell. It still mounts in the same place. The back edge of the grill doesn't get pushed further back.

I love a good educational debate, based upon accurate dimensions and years of experience! Now the fun factor is expanded!

Maybe I'm wrong, you guys certainly seem as sure of yourself as I am. Unfortunately I sold the 33 grill off the BB so can't take a measurement.

Does someone have a 33 shell they can measure?

So, do either of the 33 or 34 truck shells have a slant to them, making them deeper at the bottom, or did I imagine that? I could have sworn one of them did, making the hood line vertical but giving the grille bars some slant backward at the top, but I suppose I could be wrong, I'd really like to see some pics with measurements of both 33 and 34 truck grilles, top and bottom.

This would be good info to know, seems like there's no good comparisons anywhere on the internet, this thread might turn into a good resource for internet searches in the future, just like many other HAMB threads have.

The 33 and 34 truck grill shells did lean back but were not wider at the bottom. the front of the hood was slanted to match the grille shell.

This side view shows the shell and hood slant.

I found this description of the 32,33,34 commercial grills over on the Fordbarn. The 33 and 34 are dimensionally the same.

1932, 1933 and 1934 commercial grilles are each unique to a specific year. 1932 is straight up and down and not as deep as 1933 or 1934. See pictures. 32 on left 33 center and 1934 on right. 1933 is slanted and deeper than 32 but lacks the chrome trim in front of the radiator cap that is found on the 1934 grille. 1934 grilles differ in several ways from 1933 grilles. 1934 has stainless trim around the perimeter. The bars on 1934 grilles are pinched to a flat center cross piece (see photo). The bars and the center cross piece in 1933 grilles are all parts of a single stamping. Of course, many times you see 1934 grills on 1933 trucks (they are dimensionally the same)...probably because the bright trim is desired. Each grill is topped by a unique radiator cap as well.

Well. Sounds like I'm wrong than. My apologies.

What I feel real bad about is that "33" grill I sold. As it's definitely not a stock 33 grill then. Maybe it was a 32. Or someone narrowed a 33.
