They go between the side windows and metal framing. Chrome bead with deteriorated rubber attached. They're on both front and rear side windows. Are these the fuzzies? The proper name and a link to whoever may sell them is greatly appreciated! Also, any lead on who produces the rubber door bumpers? All I found at DC were '55-'57. I need '54. They're a unique shape.
I got mine for my '54 from this company, order the free catalog https://www.cl***icautopartsonlinecatalog.com/Fullsize-Ford-and-Mercury/1/ They own the company that makes them all USA made.
I believe what you are looking for is Flexible replacement window channel and it can be purchased in 72" lengths in several widths, it can be purchased with or without the chrome bead, I prefer without because it is much easier to work with. you can buy it on line or if you have a local automotive trim and gl*** shop locally they usually have it in stock.
I bought some from a supplier in Portland Oregon but they don't advertise and sell only wholesale to business. Very reluctant to sell to walk ins, they only want to ship. By the time you pay shipping and get the local gl*** guy to order it it costs more than getting it from MAC's or one of the big parts suppliers. I was able to talk them into letting me do a will call because I needed it right away but if you consider the drive time and gas I didn't save any money. Because of the 6 foot length (shipped in a cardboard tube) there is usually oversized shipping charges. Things like this drive me nuts, used to be common and all the gl*** shops had this in stock (yes, I am old) now it is always a "special order" unless you live in a big city and have lots of places you can call till somebody has it in stock. Welcome to the old car hobby! Mark
I ordered this OEM: BA-21452/3-70A from the place Jeff suggested. Replacing the side gl*** is on my winter upgrade list so I figured i'd do the window fuzzies while I was at it.
Yep.....cl***ic auto parts. They are in OKC. Decades ago they were called Ford Obsolete. The top/backside strip is the flexible window channel. The front side is the rigid window channel, and you'll also need the wing window strip, as it rivets to the divider post at the same time as the rigid channel. get the anti-rattler strips from them also (bottom pieces, inside and out) I can give some tips on forming the flexible channel when you're ready. I just realized you're working on a '54......not sure about the wing window stuff for a '54
Could you post your tips about forming the flex channel on Page Six of the "Sticky FAQ" please. Here's one from Youtube there are 3 Parts to it. These show Chevys but the same applies to our Fords. You might like the part about the door handle removal.
Yep, found the window channel at Obsolete & Cl***ic Auto Parts. Thanks everyone! Has anyone found the rubber door bumpers specific to '54? I've found them for every year, except mine.
The stops appear to be the same a the non tapered ones I’ve seen for sale. Probably not for a Ford. You just need the length and then taper them. There tapered so they get “firmer” as they compress. As for ones on Fords I’ll show 2 photos off my 56. The door stop at the bottom of the door of a Victoria (Has a screw) and the fuel door behind the license plate. (Push in) I think You can install a nutsert with pop rivet tool to make threads. Your door jam has a lot of room behind it.
What Jimmy said........ I just found some of the correct height. Unless your building a factory correct show car, who cares??
You guys are right! I just thought maybe I could find a '54 specific piece. I'll get some for '55-'59 and make 'em work!
My local Auto Upholstery supply had a huge ***ortment of the rubber bumpers got them for the gas tank door, hood, etc most were under 75 cents each.
