I’m looking for some pictures and advice on putting a 32’ style tank on my 31’ Model A 5 Window Coupe. I was told I would have to cut up my rear sub frame channel… help please. Joe
no clue what a rear sub frame channel is on a model A, but get your tank those are the diminsion's you will work with rear frame rail piece's off a bobbed 32 frame are easy to find or buy a kit.it's been done so many times that yes they make a kit
If you have an A coupe body on a stock 32 frame, then the rear subrail across the back needs to be cut. On a full fendered A, you can build frame extension and mount the tank below the rear subrail, it’ll be lower than a tank on a 32 coupe. There was a company that made a kit to do that.
Here is how we did it on our gl*** 29 roadster body. you can see that the body needs notched for both the frame and the tank. This is on a stock dimension 32 frame. Since it was gl***, we just cut it out and glued it back in. But i will be doing the same on my 31 sedan with 32 tank in the rear. Get yourself a tank and put it on you 32 frame, start measuring and slicing the body up to fit.
