I'm thinking of 'modifying' my 1-year-old's orange plastic (push) car into something cool, flat black, rubber tires, wide whites etc. He's totally into cars and needs something cool. I'd also like to build something self powered (battery) one day, that looks like a trad roadster (without buying one of those expensive mini glass bodies). What are your kids driving? anyone build something cool for their little tyke?
you could find a power wheels off the side of the road or new if you got money to spend, and rig it up to a car battery, that'll give it some speed. you can paint it and stuff, whatever you want to do, i lowered a jeep one about an inch, but that one got trashed.
My little tyke has a 1951 Ford shoebox that is bagged, 5 1/2" chop, red & white tuck & roll with a 383 stroker motor. It went low 13's at the latest Rat Fink Show in Palmdale..........oh, you were talking about LITTLE kids.
Mine is daily driving a '62 Falcon under construction Mild Custom, has a project '27 T roadster PicUp, and SLOWLY workin on gettin a '61 Dodge w/440 Chrysler back on the road. And SHE is just 18 ....
My kids run around in this, only took 10 years to get on the road. My boy's 10 and my girl's 8 Daisyduke
nope, not yet... she drives a (gulp) Sonic/Coca-Cola Collector Edition Mustang... might "gasser" it for her though
I always wanted to build a lowrider radio flyer for one of the kids, so I built one for the three year old, I dont have any pics but its pretty neat. I took 3 2inch casters in the back and in the front I put the casters that turn for the steering. I used the org. handle but did a little fab. to attach it to the bottom. I gave a new girly paint job and took the big wheel and attached it to the rear kinda looks like wheelie bars. I pulled the baby in it a last year to a car show got more complaments than some of the cars. I need to rebuild it though so might be another winter project for the smallest baby.
This is my girls stroller. She will be too big for it next year. I got her a pedal car for next year. Found some old power wheels and yanked the motors and wiring harness. I am going to convert the pedal car. I am also working on an older roadster power wheel that I found at a swap meet. Not sure the make or model but it has a chrome windshield frame and platic wide whitewalls.
my kids......... It saved my butt at the roadster show. I also had people sign it.. Barris, Billy Gibbons, Jimmy Shine, and others...
Here is grandsons petalcar when he was about 2-3. He outgrew it fast and now it is a decoration until he has a child of his own.
Between the two boys....67 Cougar,460 Ford......67 Falcon,302 Ford.......51 F-1,chopped,302 Ford......31 "A", tri-power "Y" block........50 Merc sedan, 390 FE Ford....I'm still a kid....Chopped 49 Merc,460 Ford ...Chopped F-1,390 Ford........OLDBEET
My kid has a '27 Roadster and a chopped, flamed '48 Plymouth 4 door. 'Course he's 34 years old. (My baby!). My 15 year old grandson and I are 3/4 done chopping a '38 GMC cab for his first ride. Chopped, channeled, fenderless. Oops! I guess this post is about little tykes.
My son and I put this together last year. My boss gave us the frame. It was covered in vines, the steering was locked up, and we had to drag it out of the woods. The engine came off of an old concrete troweling machine that was junked out. We have a total investment of about $40. I'm hopin he's learnin a little about mechanical stuff. He's recently started askin me about weldin and how he can put shocks on it so he can take it off road. It recently started runnin rough. I ended up doin a tune up on it. I ungoverned it as I was test drivin it and forgot to govern it back down. As he drove it for the first time flat out he replied "WOO HOOOOO" as he slid the back end around. I think I'm in trouble. Count
I'm realy keen to get hold of a decent pedal car for my 18 m/old boy he is very big on cars, we had a Jeep when I was little, damn things are thin on the ground here and not too cheap either.
My girl rode this when she was 2/ 3 shes 5 now and too big. She gets mad that she cant cruise it any more!
My son's 40 but is working on his first rod (must take after his mother) but he's building a full fendered 31 A tub with a 330 DeSoto Hemi (starting to take after his dad) Oct 4 2006 My first Great Grand Son and thats the one I'm going to spoil rotten
