Need new floor braces for the shoebox but dont want to pay 60 some dollars a piece, thought I would try and make my own. Definately no work of art but I think it'll work!
Unless you park it on a mirror who's gonna see it? Looks good to me. Cost? Beats the asking price don't it.
yeah I've got like $8 into this and that is buying expensive steel from the hardware store, sure it can be done even cheaper...
Dan - that looks good! I was just eyeballing those supports on my 49 last week. My doors don't quite line up right and I think those braces are the culprit. I hadn't priced them yet, but I don't think I'll bother. For $60+ (times 6) I'll take the same route you did. Nice work. Curt
my doors are not lining up either, my floors are crap too, hopefully starting with the brace and working my way up I can get stuff to fit...
Did you get the doors lined up first and then build your braces the right size (to act as shims), or did you just build them based on the stock braces and plan on shimming as you go?
I built them like the stock braces and plan to use shims as needed. The way it is now my pass. side door is too low on the handle side, I think the whole cowl on the hinge side needs to come up, haven't messed with the drivers side yet...
