Greetings, I have a problem with my back glass and would like to know if anybody can recommend a good glass installer that has experience with 1950s style molded rubber molding with stainless trim. If you know of a good quality installer I have some work for them. Thank you.
^^^^ What @Bandit Billy said! They know their stuff and will treat you right! They also have a bunch of templates for old stuff, and can cut whatever you need in the way of flat glass. Good people!
Hey Bob’s Classic glass is in Blachley and warehouse in Springfield . They cut their own glass and are a Steele Rubber products distributor.
I wont ever use Bob's again! The guy is bipolar, and went ballistic on the phone after I called (per his request!) to give feedback on any issues with his glass I bought for my '39 Chev coupe. He had told me to "let me know if you have any issues, as I always appreciate feedback". Bob's supposedly special cut my windshield halves smaller, as the first set were just too large and couldn't begin to go in. Then when I called to tell him the 2nd set wasn't to the dimensions I gave him, and were barely smaller than the first pair, he went off his rocker and started a cuss filled reply that would make a tucker blush. I hung up on him, and he called back seconds later and started in again! Then suddenly he stopped, and in a calm voice said, "I want you to know if you ever need any help with glass, feel free to call me." WTF? The guy has some serious customer service problems, and looking at the reviews later it seems it wasn't happening to just me.
Looking at their website Block & Olson GlassTrusted glass repair and replacemement in Vancouver, WA (blockandolsonglass.com) Block and Olson is one of those old school full service glass companies that has been in the same building for the past 56 years and is run by the decedents of the second owner. That's the kind of outfit you look for to do your glass work.
I had Duane out in the shop re-installing the windshield in one the Bandit cars and he showed me this cool trick he uses to keep the sealant from oozing about. He builds a dam with thin stick on weatherstripping and then fills the space with sealant. Even from the inside it was the tidiest install ever.
I have talked only to Jay , recently as today and he seems okay . Other than we had to start anew from a week before. Now you got me nervous wether I would get my ‘48 “Effie’s” glass cut right.
Now this is some funny stuff. I have had the same treatment from Tim at Block and Olson. I don't know Duane so maybe the place has changed hands. That would be a plus.
I have been thinking about checking with Sanders Repro glass in Vancouver that are part of Peninsula glass Classic Auto Glass, Custom Auto Glass | Sanders Repro Glass This because I am going to need tempered glass in the doors if I expect it to last. I think a glass shop that my buddy did a lot of business was sending glass down to them to have it tempered but I am not sure that they are in business anymore. I'm thinking that being a bit cranky goes with the territory with most glass guys.
