Red oxide exterior primer, post up some pics of the interior and engine. Black is probably the go to but I’m not a big fan of black engines. Found some pics on here of red oxide but not many showing engine/interior
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940-willys-coupe-nasty-habit.1063847/ What engine are you running? Is red oxide primer the permanent color?
Krobe's A was red oxide before Rod Baughman painted it, with gray and white interior (which it still has)
Flatty? Dark green. Chevy stovebolt? Dark blue. Chevy V8? Orange. Caddy? Dark blue. Poncho? metallic turquiose.
327 with an edelbrock x1 intake. Red oxide will likely be the long term color. I am building a 31 roadster and this week a 32 pickup fell in my lap so I’m temporarily switching gears and building the pickup with the 327. Engine is already on the stand, was going to paint it red and the roadster black. But now leaning towards a red oxide shop truck budget build with all the extra parts I have laying around. I can build this truck pretty quick then take my time on the roadster. The roadster will be going towards a 40s build era.
I agree with Jim, Chevy Fast Orange for the 327 engine with a black interior, white would be hard to keep clean in a actual shop truck
A red engine always looks good with red oxide primer, been done for so long it is a tradition. In a '30s rod it is traditionally accompanied by a white firewall, pinstriped or not.
Body is not painted but you can get the idea! I used Krylon red oxide and VHT Chevy orange engine paint. I might do the firewall and belly in an off white? Body will be red oxide too! It will be that color till somebody else owns her!
This would complement red oxide. https://www.hirschauto.com/ENGINE-ENAMEL/productinfo/EE-QUART/FOR BRNZ/ Scroll down to Ford Bronze 1949-51
