Well after almost selling my AV8 roadster we decided to keep it in the family. What the hell, only live once, so I applied and the car has been approved to participate at the TROG event in Wildwood NJ this October. Much prep to meet the new rules but I'm about set to go. Having lived in NJ for many years prior to moving to Wisconsin it's sort of a homecoming of sorts. Have a whole group of friends and family coming from different parts of the country to watch me make a fool of myself driving a 90 year old car through loose sand! And to think I spent hours taking old rusty steel down to bare metal only to subject it to salt air and water ! Crazy! Have "some" idea what to expect but it's going to be a blast. Ok, maybe I have no idea......fill me in with some insight guys!
Congrats to you on being accepted. I plan on being there with my shoebox woodie. Native Jersey guy myself making the trek down from western NY. Tear it up bro.
Congrats! I'll be there! It's expensive but I coated everything in this to help with clean up and corrosion in 2019
Here are some teaser photos of the car before the addition of a roll bar. Headlights have to come off yet and finish installing a five point safety harness. Drained the antifreeze from the car and filled the system with plain water. Hope the hell I remember to refill it with antifreeze....been known to get cold here in winter!
Being accepted is the issue with participating in a TROG event, isn’t it. Congratulations, hope your travel is uneventful to NJ
Finally have the car ready for transport to the TROG event in NJ. Roll bar... check, five point safety harness... check, fire extinguisher...check, anti freeze flush...check, etc. etc. (Hate he look of the roll bar!) Give the tarp over the cockpit a 10% chance of making it 100 miles..... LOL That only leaves me another 1100 miles hoping it doesn't rain. A closed trailer would be the ticket! In any event it will be a blast.
There will be 3 of us heading down this year from Warwick RI. Looking forward to meeting some HAMB members and having a great time. All you drivers be safe.
Tear up some beach in New Jersey, then race it with us in Hillsboro Wisconsin in July. If it passed tech for T.R.O.G. it'll pass for Sanford Field for sure.
