Anyone know what color or similar color to the ivory/light yellow paint on this 32? Not interested in the fake patina.

It’s in the book, it’s about 500 layers of paint and oil and everything else to get that tone.

if you just want a paint that is the ivory tone your gonna have to just find a good picture and go to the store and start spraying samples.

I would assume to get that warmth you’d have to play with warm under tones with ivory over it.

  4. Yeah get in touch with Ken or Keith. But, GM did have a color in the late 60s that is a dead ringer for that. Always wanted to use it on something.

Rolling bones looks like multi colors shot over each other and sanded thru. If that's the look you want you'll have to be creative on the sanding.

If you want a solid creamy white.

Take your pic, look on a few different monitors or order a color card.
TCP GLOBAL Wimbledon white or olympic white have a lot of yellow/ tan. Not sure if they're a match to the factory colors they are named after.

    Ford Wimbledon white. Indoor shot.

Ken wrote a book titled Gas-Oil&Water. In that book he shows some of the tricks they use to get the paint finish they aspire to.

krylon32- Thanks. I've seen the book before; but didn't realize it had tips on their techniques. I thought it was more of the history lesson on "salt-flat" type hot rods.
    Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Thanks all! I've come across a few colors that seem to be close in the off white/light yellow tones. I'll do spray outs when I get at the paint stage. For anyone interested, I'm looking at 63 Ford Corinithian White, 63 Ford Tuscon Yellow, 60 Chevy Crocus Cream.
