Hi everyone ,I just cane acrossed a 1929 2dr sdn and ch***is no motor on a rolling frame all the fenders the color rust but body is soild on it. Aways wanted a model a project but don,t know about a sdn. asking $1000. I gess their are other that want it and I was second on the list I understand all the work involved but should i just get it even if i dont want a sdn. can I get my money back or is it a good investment. Going tonight to look need help on what too do THANK YOU JOE
Sounds like a decent deal, I'd try to talk him down a couple hundred but if it's as solid as you say, without pics it sounds like he's inline to me. My buddy's dad had a '29 sedan ROUGH with frame for 300.00 a while back. That's what I am comparing it to. Mootz Edit:didn't see that there is a line and someone is ahead of you, he may be pulling your leg but even if you have to pay asking price, I don't think you're getting a bad deal. They are all good investments at this point.
I do not have any pictures yet . IT's just one of them deals.thatthe guy called me at lunch time today and I got to go tonight!! hate being rushed
They are not making them any more and they are not getting cheaper. 1000 for a nice body especially if you get fenders sounds like a good deal. I paid 1000 for mine with no fenders and the sub rails were gone and needed minor rust repair.
If it's a 2dr sedan and the subrails are good and solid and there is still some semblance of the bottoms of the doors left, if the doors can swing on their hinges, and if the garnish mouldings are there, If you are lucky enough to still have non-rusted out tack strips, I would say it's a pretty good deal. To give you an idea, I sold one last winter that the bottom 6" was pretty much trash, and the tack strips were non-existant, but did have gl*** and garnishes for $800. It also didn't have a frame, wheels, frontend, or even a rearend. Just the body itself.
Why waste your time with a car you said you don't want? Let someone buy it that's going to do something with it. There's nothing wrong with a sedan by any means.
I like sedans .I have a 1938 tudor deluxe project vehical. I't seams i always make bad desions when i"m rushed pay too much wrong year the list gos on and on for me!! AND if i change my mind i would like too get my moneyback not loose .
I'd say it sounds like a good deal if that is what you wanted. But if it ain't what you want you will be tying up a thousand dollars that could go towards the car you want. You will also have to store the car so it's gonna take up space you might need.
A k-note is a good price if the body is rust free... I would chisel his price down if the lower 6" suffer from tin worm
man, the prices A sedans are going for now makes me feel OLD! and i'm only 32! when i was a teenager, my ol man had a model A sedan body, a model T pickup cab and bed, and a bunch of misc T parts layin out back, i can't tell you how many time we loaded that sedan body up to take to the swaps, with an asking price of $75, and never sold it! nobody wanted them "back then". and at the time a ground up build was out of my reach, i was busy workin on my 54 chevy. we ended up selling the whole pile of stuff to a crazy guy i knew for $50, he was gonna build a super fuel efficient car out of the A sedan. man how times change.
id say it sounds like a good deal. I p***ed up a body alone for 1000 and have been kicking myself ever since. I only wish that I could find a good buy on one in my area.
