1962 Chevy C10 Service Truck

Discussion in 'Cars For Sale' started by Throttle Merchants, Sep 30, 2021.

  1. City: Gardena

    State: California
    Price: 7250 OBO
FOR SALE: $7250 OBO --This is a 1962 Chevrolet C10 Body which has been mounted on a complete 1963 Chevrolet C10 frame. This vehicle has a CLEAN ***le in a Non-Op status. The body was a Cal Trans work truck in the 1960s and is the reason it still has orange paint, the service light and the ladder rack. I have had the vehicle for about 4 years now and never got around to getting it on the road. 90% of the work was done by previous owners.

BODY: Unknown complete condition under the 1960s paint but there is a little bondo I can see on the front of the hood and a repair on the left front fender. There is some rust on the p***enger side of the roof from sitting outside for so long that has spread into the door jam, but should be addressed sooner than later. There is surface rust on other spots of the body that have no concern for rust through, but I haven't touched it because of the “patina”. Some minor rust in floorboards with a couple dime sized holes that can be repaired easily.. Other than that, the body is very solid. Service body is also from the 60s with very cool retro detailing. Doors work for storage but I don't have keys to lock. Previous owner installed a Chevrolet tailgate in the rear and made mounts for bed wood they planned to install. New floor humps have been purchased, new front windshield and rubber has been installed, new rear window and rubber has been installed and I have new rubber for side gl*** but old gl*** is still installed. Interior was painted by the previous owner. Original seat is there but needs new upholstery. Gas tank's neck hole was filled but I have a brand new behind the seat gas tank (not pictured) and had plans to put that back in the original position. Brand new front bumper (not pictured) and bumper brackets also included. Original grill is included and also has new mirrors and parking light lenses.

DRIVETRAIN: Engine was running out of 1962 Chevy Impala 327. I have not had it fired up yet but I did go through the engine about 2 years ago, inspect, and replace gaskets. Looks very clean inside. Crankshaft, rods, pistons, camshaft and heads are off of the 1962 327, everything else is new. New lifters, pushrods, intake manifold, Edelbrock carb (new in box), HEI ignition (new in box), new pulleys, new fuel pump, new oil pump, new starter etc. Brand new aluminum radiator is also still in the box. Brand new exhaust manifolds. I also have a brand new in the box wiring kit from Speedway Motors. Transmission is a TH400 that has about 500 miles on a fresh rebuild. (Pulled it right out of a running vehicle that decided to go to an overdrive trans) Both engine and trans are mounted in the vehicle. Brand new Gennie Floor shifter is included that has not been installed. No driveshaft. Rear axle is what I believe to be stock from the 1963 C10 ch***is. Unknown gear ratio.

CH***IS: 1963 C10 ch***is that I believe to be all stock other than the previous owner lowering it by shortening the coil springs. Rear axle is a GM 10 bolt that had a panhard bar added by the previous owner as well. A power brake booster with dual reservoir master cylinder is installed on the firewall but brake lines are not hooked up. Disc brakes in front, drum in the rear. Steering column and steering wheel included but there is no current steering shaft between column and steering box. I can't confirm the year steering wheel/column year but it is the deluxe model and has chrome trim to be included. Car still pushes easily but would need a trailer/winch to make life easier when towing.

I ran out of time for this vehicle quickly after I purchased it and four years later I am not getting around to it so I know it's time to sell. Had plans to make a cool shop welding truck with patina lettering and would be a cool parts getter for a shop or a hobbyist. The appeal to me was the untouched body from the 1960s. Vehicle is priced to sell. $7250 OBO. Message me with any more questions. I will answer the best I can. I need this thing sold very soon as I am moving and unfortunately can't take it with me. New buyer handles pickup/delivery.
