need to find out if an ignition control module from a 351/400m will power a duraspark distributor from a 302 small block. anyone?
Turn the box over and look where the wires go in. If the color matches it will work. I think most of them are now 'blue grommet' boxes.
we use the blue on the race car and we have had many differnt year distributers in and not had a problem the biggest differnce that i have when looking at the wiring scematics is that the differnt colors have more wires for imission controls
The duraspark had some changes over the years. There was a number ( i think three) different modules. The 7 wire is the latest i believe ( send me your color code and i can send you the wiring
the back of the box has a blue grommet for the wires. i have all the plugs, and it plugs into my 302 distributor, i cant get it to fire though. if i take a plug out and crank the engine over with the plug grounded it has spark. i was wondering if the box fires different because its originally from a 400m motor. i had to drive the car to work so i just put the points distributor in with the rotor in the same spot as it was with the electronic distributor and it fired right up. trying to figure out what went wrong with the duraspark set up. thanks for any help.
Did ya know you can run a four pin Chevy module in place of the Duraspark box? Lots cheaper to replace and probably more available if you're in BFE.
