Oh, now this I can get behind! I love red, and I do think it's the proper color for any Italian sporty car or motorcycle, but on hot rods I do favor blue.
One of my very favorites....haven't seen in many years....a blue '51 henry J with a blown nailhead. Was in the Springfield, MA area. I used to see at CT area shows... the perfect color for this car! I believe someone bought the car and ripped it down to rebuild, maybe 5 or so years ago...maybe longer. This is one of my favorite cars of all time! I loved everything about her!
I was 16 and couldn't afford black, saw the blue '39 coupe cruising in American Graffiti. A 50's RC Cola sign provided the color, same paint after 35 years.
Wow, blue is another color that can go total stunner or blah. Funny how @Moriarity 's 55 popped into my head when I saw the title. Another only choice possible example in my eye. One thing about blue, especially dark blue shades, who's fkn idea was it that a red interior goes with it? Grey, black, different shades of blue, tan, white, even a neutral saddle color (which is almost orange in the color spectrum). But red? And it's funny to me how many restoration types do it on high end cars. Really? Might as well add yellow wheels and apple green pinstripes (!). This is all my opinion, of course, and in my mind's eye they're 2 primary colors that set the stage and are better complimented by something else vs used together. Hey, if you like it that's fine, I got your 6 on that score. To me it looks like a Pepsi can. My favorite blues are early 60s GM Jewel Blue, Moriarty's candy blue on the 55, and of course no surprise here, Packard Blue from the prewar era. And none would have a red interior
All of my current vehicles are blue except one as it’s the original color and when my roadster is done it will be blue. Thanks for the post and good luck with the boss.
I find this thread to be totally unnecessary! Anyone with a little class knows that Blue is the absolute best colour choice. LOL But seriously my '42 Fargo is Nightwatch Blue my current OT project is Sapphire Blue (almost identical to Washington Blue), my '56 Meteor will more than likely be blue, and my daily driver is blue. Some say I'm addicted to the colour but I say I just have great taste! After all what's not to like about being "True Blue"?
Call it a kustom if you want, but it is running a 392 hemi, so I think it qualifies as a hot rod as well.
