1959 gmc 270 stock, other then adding an alternator. I'm not getting any oil in the oil filter or to the rockers and for the life of me can not find an oil routing diagram. Everything looks stock. So does the oil flow out of the head, down to an L block and into the filter. I do see any other external lines feeding the filter, just a line at the bottom and on up high on the side of the filter housing. It has very good oil pressure, 60 startup, 25 idling, just no oil flowing thru the filter or top end. Thanks for any help, Ed

Up front on the block is a fitting which directs oil to the rockers & filter. There's a fitting on the cylinder head for the rocker oil, & a line going to the filter canister. Clean them ....

So that "L" fitting is attached to the front of the engine as an input. Small line going to the rockers, big one the filter. Ok that makes more sense. Thanks

The drain on the bypass filter should be directed to a 1/8” pipe fitting right below the distributor hole. It’s to lubricant the gears. You can test for flow by removing the distributor and using a shaft in a drill motor. I made one out of a 1/4 rod and pounding one end flat. Cutting off an old screw driver works well too. Take the rocker arm cover off and see how much comes out the center over flow drain. If you take the engine apart for a rebuild there is a way to install a full flow oil filter with some machine work on the block..

Took all the lines and fitting off. The filter orifice was plugged for sure with gunk/sludge and a bit of gunk in the L fitting going up to the head. Inside the lines where pretty clean. Ran the motor without the oil filter lid on for 3 seconds could see a steady stream of oil and cracked the line going into the head and that had some flow. Didn't make to big a mess. Oil pressure dropped down to 45 instead of 60. If I was to do it again, I'd crack the lines at the filter and head to see what's doing. What throw me off working on my dad's 235 had the rocker feed tube inside the head and this 59 was an old farm truck with 1/2 dirt covering the L fitting. Couldn't see it screwed into the block. Motor doesn't sound like a diesel, well not as much. Thanks again for the help.
