A friend was reorganizing his model work space when I stopped in yesterday and give me a box of junk to take with me.
I'm on it quick......well look what I found so far.....I think I could do this , I have seen several shots of this car in some of my old magazines. Plus I just got that new collection of old Hot Rod and others magazines and they go from 1951 to 1971 so I'm sure I can find more info.....I remember seeing a fastback version as a drag car also. I'm also finding parts for that broken down 60 Ford convert, I might be able to save that one also.
Putting the finishing touches on an Out of Box build of a Revell of Germany Jaguar XK SS....the 1957 "stock street" version of the famed D-Type Jag racer.
Well quick I'm not from Chicago, but I do have a large collection of old magazines and it just grew by a few more hundred recently , is this the car you spoke of... haven't found a color picture yet My old collection seemed to skip around 68, 69, 70 and 71, this new grouping fills in the blanks...it goes from 51-71 and there all in plastic sleeves so it takes a bit longer to flip through them. I can PM you the complete article if you would like to see it. .
I got it off ebay. I normally don't buy overseas but I really wanted it. It came quick too about 1 week. https://www.ebay.com/itm/265279237142
Get one of these too and use the cab to make a mid 30s GMC or Chevy tow truck. I have one to use the stake bed to make a US Chevy WII surplus truck like the one my Dad had after the war. OPEL BLITZ pictures by stpb1 (hobbylinc.com)
Wow, I've missed a lot! Not sure why I'm not getting notified by the H.A.M.B. of all these great posts. Love to see junk box raw materials start a new life. Nicely done fellas... Despite some domestic distractions including a ****ped out clothes dryer today, I was able to make a little progress. No filler pieces were needed between the sidewall castings to arrive a the correct width, so that saved some time. I also got the shackles and mounts on the rear springs. The red stains on the tire treads are either Oklahoma red dirt, or the first p*** of body filler. Happy Sunday Modeling! David
