what kind of paint would be best to use to letter a car if you intend to take it back off and not harm the paint? i guess white shoe polish would work but thats pretty thin anyone have any ideas? AV8Paul's car was lettered at bonneville this year and thats what inspired me to ask so...what did he use?? thanks Zach
I talked to Paul last nite, and he said they used white latex house paint and a foam brush to paint that on his car.
Guess that really depends what kind of paint you're putting the letters over. One shot will come off with MEK and I've seen it done sucessfully on cars with a shiney painy job but I probably wouldn't try it on a car with an earl schieb job or a laquer job.
I used white shoe polish on a guys windows when our kids were in youth football together. He usd a razor blade to s****e off the stuff and all the flakes landed on the paint (late model cevy tahoe) he washed it and the white flakes stuck on the real paint.....he ended up having the truck buffed just to get it off! Now I did the same thing on my truck and the flakes eventually came off on their own....I'm just not sure how you would get the numbers off if they were on thick
There is a product out there that I've seen comercials for... You prep the area, paint it on and use soap and water to wash it off. In Canada we can get this at the local Canadian Tire or Parts Source. Sure you could find it at PepBoys or Rilleys....
spend $20 bucks or so to get some vinyl numbers cut. They go on in minutes and come off just as fast, no harm to the finish.
