Hoping some Canadian hot rodders can help me out. I’m trying to find GL4 140 gear oil for my three speed and banjo but I’m striking out every where I call. Has anyone in Alberta or across Canada found a dealer/distributor? Thanks Chris
Have you tried Klondike lubricants? Their even in your part of the country. https://www.googleadservices.com/pa...=2ahUKEwiYkKiUtN7zAhVUMH0KHaxUA6wQ0Qx6BAgCEAE
Have you tried Crappy Tire? ;-) They say this TDH stuff complies with API GL-4: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-tdh-fluid-5-l-0280215p.html I'm using it in my '48 Ford 3-spd tranny.
In 1954, ihc, international harvester company, produced a tractor with a planetary gearset to provide a shift on the go ability. The standard lube was 90w gear grease. The stinky dinasour stuff. The planetarys burnt out in short order. Ihc then ordered all tractors with the planetarys to use the new lube, TA fluid. It was very close to the type a automatic transmission fluid of the day. Everyone thought it would ruin the transmission gears and especially the ring and pinion. It worked perfectly, and it is still used by every tractor manufacturer to this day. I have been using it for years in my manual and automatic transmissions in my cars, tractors and pickups. Maybe ignorince is bliss.....
