This is where I bought my First car Bennie Blaushild Dodge on Kinsman, Shaker Hts, Ohio It was a 1971 Dodge Charger in July, 1971. I can't believe it is 50 years ago. My Dad always bought his cars their and as a young boy I remember staring this in the service area. B. W. Blaushild moved from its Mount Pleasant location to 16333 Kinsman Road in 1947. The site would eventually be cleared for the construction of The Woodlands of Shaker Heights.

2 Down Easters or Barques sailing ships my Great Opa crewed...The Aryan was the last wooden hulled 3 masted Skys'l Yarder built in America in Maine 1893. She also earned the record for the longest journey around Cape Horn on this voyage! They fought storm after storm and were actually considered missing and lost at sea with all hands due to the length of time at sea...when the ship finally arrived the cargo of coal was self combusting from being moved violently in the hold...they weren't allowed to come into San Francisco harbour until it was extinguished The Mary Winkelman was another ship he crewed on this voyage was also extremely difficult and extra long...shortly after or maybe the next voyage (he didn't crew on) she disappeared beneath the waves forever...
Beats pickin cotton, in 1973 you could get a dollar a pound in Kannapolis NC. You could work all day and make about 5 or 6 dollars, think about how little cotton weights .
