Well, its been crazy enough finishing projects, buying and selling stuff that I have not had a chance to get photos of the finished Berry Wagon until now. I decided to rough in the paint on the roof because close to half of it was missing or flaking paint and just looked ****py. There was nothing to really save as far as lettering or striping so we cleaned it up. Clark sprayed the roof and worked in the rusty spot on the hood. The roof paint matched perfectly, the hood was close, but looks better than a big rusty spot. He then shot the whole car in clear and the paint really came back around.

Awesome! You are going to be 100% responsible for bringing back 70's style. Ha Ha Ha I am going to stock up on NOS cragar ss's because restorers will be wanting them on e-bay. Ha Ha Ha

Are you going to install a keg cooler in there?

Did Clark accidentally spray his head with clear? Man, it looks shiny!

  4. Looks great. Please tell me you're going to make a stand for it so it can be displayed in wheels-up glory again.

That paint really came back to life. Looks good. Are you making it a running machine or just a display again?

  8. Who lettered and striped that truck? I know "Big Daddy" was employed as a signpainter at Knott's Berry Farm for a time.

    Very kool ride and effort!!

If I remember correctly, all of the lettering is original Roth painting and striping that they preserved. Looks cool, great job.

Peter Pan, Ed painted it. Signed on the back "Signs..Ed Roth" see the earlier post http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115152&highlight=berry+wagon
Because Ed painted it is really the only reason for me to have it...poor mans Roth car!! I'm trying to figure out what to do with it now. The museum at Latimore is full and several members dont really want it there because it never really ran. Forget the history of Roth painting it.?! If I cant find a museum that wants it for a while so people can see it I may try to get it apart enough to get it on the elevator so I can get it up in my living room at our place. At least I can see it then. I will take it to the museum a week or two before the Showdown next spring so anyone coming to the show can check it out. Some sort of stand will be built...its on the "to do" list! Plowboy, Clarks head is shiney because that was one of those thousand degree weeks we had a while ago. Now go find your Slade 8 track *****...the HAMB is back to the 70's!!

Yeh...it was painted by Roth. His signature is above the back window. I was real nervous painting over it.

Call Darryl Starbird, like RIGHT NOW. I bet he would be glad to have that out at his museum. And since it is only another 45 minute drive from the HAMB drags, next weekend would be a GREAT time to take it there. Seriously!

Darryl is really cool and even told me I could put the lander out there if I wanted to.

Congrats on getting that thing looking so good & Thank you!

that Postcard sure brought back some childhood memories. my aunt and oldest sister worked at Knotts & they would sign me in almost every summer day. I remember me and my cousin getting busted by a security guard for trying to climb up onto the Berry Wagon to see if we could actually peek through the black windows into the non-existant interior

  26. scarylarry, I don't know how I missed that earlier post. I appreciated the update very much, Thank you!!

I also appreciate the time, effort and moola that you have expended to save a valuable piece of history.

    Hey Jake,
I guess you made it home O.K.? Thanks for stopping by on your road trip. I will be giving him a call. We'll see on a trip out!!

  30. Yeah, we made it home Saturday nite...late. Norma and I had a great time hangin out at the warehouse. It's even kooler in real life!

By the way, the Berry Wagon is Berry Kool!:p I missed the first thread about it, but after seeing it for real it brings a whole lot more interest to it.

I would have been on pins and needles refinishing over the old finish. It looks like it came out well.
