More body bracing in, rear sub rails cut out, frame rails cut off, and the body now sits flat on the rails. Now I have to get my head wrapped around exactly how and where to pinch the frame rails to get a little better fit. I cut the rails off just behind the flattened ‘40 crossmember, and that seems to make the rails hang down a little lower than the body. I’ll likely have to modify the crossmember so I can trim a little more off the rails so they will tuck up behind the wheel wells. I’ve been wanting to get to this point for a long time. Now I can figure some stuff out!

Wow a rough go for a rough coupe.
Nice to see you still moving forward after such a set back.
New shop is beautifully uncluttered, unlike the rest of us with little trails through the piles.

My shop that burned was packed full of awesomeness and had trails... I'm trying to keep this one clean and organized from the start so it doesn't get out of hand. That may, or may not work haha.

After spending the whole day moving frame rails around, measuring, and scratching my head, I’m still not settled on the way the body fits the frame rails. I have them as close as I can get without pinching them. I saw a few guys running unpinched rails here on the H.A.M.B., and in the photos they seem to fit a little better in the cowl area than this. I brought the rails in 1.5” at the front of the rear wheelwell, and I brought them in around 2” at the front of the cowl. They ended up 22” at the very front. I will still need to section the cowl to sit the body down a little lower at the front. It’s this, or pinch, so I’m going to have to look at this a while and see if it grows on me. What do you guys think? I’ve never done this, so input is appreciated.
