Though I own a couple of basically-stock inline '60's cars (one project, one runner), I am possibly, at this point) taking the plunge and getting a '28 Model A Tudor. It's a stock runner, basically unrestored with a 20-footer owner-applied paint job, and a professional period-correct upholstery job. I know I want to make this car more capable of being somewhat of a daily driver. The big expenditure that I would be willing to bite the bullet on would be a Mitchell OD, and I'd like to put juice brakes on, as well as to slightly-modify the stock (but 2 years newer) banger. I've built one car motor in my life (a stock rebuild on a Slant-6), but I'd like to delve into this in a somewhat-old-school manner if possible. I'm not rich, but I'm a fairly industrious novice willing to pay attention and attempt to do things properly, and to yeild when I'm above my limitations. I haven't even decided what look I want to achieve on this car. I'm torn between old steelies and staggered bias plies, slightly lowered, fenderless, unchanneled, unchopped old-school hot rod look that could easily be brought back to stock, and just doing her in a bone-stock look. Thanks for letting me onto your awesome page. I've been lurking for quite some time now, as Google always led me here eventually.
Kevin, welcome to the HAMB from Illinois. Here is a link to a thread featuring an A built by a young rodder. It is long, so I advise just reading posts by thread author. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/building-my-first-roadster-in-san-francisco.1204990/ Also advise, don't start taking things apart. That is how a build ends up in the back of the garage for 20+ years. Have fun!
