    Bob,

Cleaned up mirror tonight and it looks great! Do you need me to bring over a paint roller?

    Kool Pics!!

I ran out of gas a couple of times in my Merc. The last time, I was in the middle of no where. You guessed it, Kansas. To make this eveen more fun, I was blessed to go through this experience with my family. We were down for all most an hour. Thank God for cell phones, I got a hold of a locally owned gas station and convinced them that I wasn't a serial killer, so they brought me some gas. After a small engine fire, we got her back on the road. That has been three years ago. When we are driving around up north, my kids will ask "hey Dad you got enough gas?"

Great post and you have one kool Merc.......

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Right now, none of my cars have gas gauges. When I leave to go some where,I stop at the gas station at the end of my street and fill it up. EVERYTIME! Sometimes it takes 10,sometimes it takes 30 bucks. I've not run out yet. I should have filled it up,my bad! Sat on the side of the freeway for over an hour, with my sons and my best friend ripping me. The worst was my wife giving me **** when I got home, but then, that's their job right.

Took some advice and changed to a GM,one wire alternator. Just had to add a spacer to align the fanbelt. I'll see how it works tomorrow.

Another question. Does anybody know about the kick-down linkage for a C6. There isn't any thing hooked up to my carb. Is it a cable? My sons C4 has a cable and Lokar linkage.

From the factory it should be a rod, not a cable. I have a 460/C6 sitting around and it had a rod. It was in a '77 Lincoln. Your best bet would probably be to try and find the stock setup in a junkyard or something, unless you don't have a factory carb on there, in which case it may be easier to go the Lokar (UGH!) route.

Put some '65 T-Bird seats in it this morning. Problem, the drivers seat is power and doesn't work anymore. Can I put the track off a pasanger seat under it and get rid of the power ****? Any suggestions?

I've swapped entire power mechanisms from one seat and mounted them under seats from diff cars. Most of the power mechanisms can be unbolted as an entire self contained unit. Easy to replace or swap with manual tracks. You might have to drill new holes or weld a stud here or there.

I'm guessing if there is a manual version for that seat, it will likely bolt onto the seat bucket. Sometimes the mounting pattern to the floor is a mirror image (not square) on the other side.

I measured and the pattern is the same. I'm thinking I can get the non-power tracks off another seat and change it out. There is an All Ford salvage right by my house. Maybe he'll have something I can use. Either that or i'll look for some Mustang buckets.

The caps are '54 Olds. Look up Hubcap Mike.com. He's in Orange,Ca. They are about $55 each. I like them cause they kinda resemble Sombreros, for a lot less. I put a 3'' long bullet in the center. You can find them just about anywhere that sells that kinda stuff. Try "thenightprowlers.com",they have all kinds of cool stuff.
