first of all.. I kinda think naming cars is DUMB.. but when I found this super nice 47 chevy coupe.. I knew it was time to do something I had been thinking about for some time.... bare metal cars are common on the other coast.. and I wanted to promote my "rust repair" business.. so what better way than to show bare metal work.. Today I finally sorted out what I think are the last few details of the build (for this year..) I fully plan to completely change the car for next year as it sits the desoto hood ornament.. gotta love the goddess, hence the "naked lady" moniker.. water on the roof.. and my "third brake light" (well it lights with the 3rd brake light) tokyo and I found these older hood ornments on one of our parts hunting trips.. the little light in the base.. shines up on her.. um... parts... even though its not very bright.. her light makes me smile... eventually I will run a 3rd brake on the outside of the decklid.. last photo of the "dash" and requisite olds wheel.. I will be making some tirm to hide the cheapo gauges that currently reside in the dash.. eventually all the gauges will be hidden when parked.. the dash and body are cleared with a product from POR15.. it that seems to be working well.. and when the car gets paint I can topcoat it.. the car will prohably chage 3 times before its "done" I have an idea of lettering it for next years showdown.. and want to run it in redoxide after that.. eventually it will be painted red.. sawzall
Nice, My '46 was like that once....for a couple hours! I have a set of '46 gauges if you'd like originals back in there.
Has it been... ONE WEEK SINCE YOU STRIPPED THE PAINT... FIVE DAYS SINCE YOU DROVE IT LAST... I can't do it anymore... I feel dirty...
Question, qhich POR-15 product did you use to clearcoat it? I used one of hteir products a few years ago (I'd have to go to their site to remember which). A year after applying it, i spilled some rubbing alcohol on it, and the whole area turned cloudy and gummy. I was less than pleased.
Reminds me on the gauges my dad did for his '42 Aerosedan . . . Dodge van gauges were in a circular cluster -- he cut the circle into pie peices, each gauge went into original holes on the Chevy dash. Two swung from the top, and two from the bottom. A PITA, but neat if you have a Dodge engine and/or looking to make things look closer to factory look.
ooooh. score light.. dig it.. hey whens the kanadian kid comin out. the BNL is likely goin to the pileup.. be a shame if the KK didnt make it.. GET TO WORK
No third brake light on the rear deck.... NO NO NO. Did you place the order for those special Canadian items for its third version???
So.......the name for your "shop??" Unique Speed & Kustom Seems like everything you do is "different." Well done.
Sawzall, That is sweet. It gives me a bit of ideas for the 48 SD I got. I'm thinking about ditching any chrome rocker strips and replacing it with oak because of the amount of wood on the inside! I wish I was body talented enough to swap those doors and door posts into my car, that angle is so nice and the hood ornaments fit. Turd brake lights are for new cars but having Roxanne turn on her red light is a great way to draw attention.
Having a running and driving car does not make you any less gay. You are more than welcome to "Drunk Dial" me again anytime you like, big boy.
It's totally okay. I was happy that someone cared to talk to me. Even if alcohol was involved. So you plan on going to the HCPU in that hunk o' junk?
