Gl*** has been in there for 67 years.....it's not budging! Is it glued in to the channel? What's the best way to remove? Vent gl*** also.

Most gl*** shops use carbon tetrachloride to loosen up the old adhesive. Do it in a well ventilated area and don't light up...

When I did mine I laid the door gl*** flat on a towel and a piece of foam with the channel hanging off the edge of the table. Then I took a long wooden slat, placed it against the channel, and tapped with a rubber mallet while holding the gl***. Once I had cleared some space, I slipped a large flat blade screw driver between the rubber and channel and pried gently on both sides and repeated the mallet tap until I had the gl*** out of the channel on one side. Then it slid right off.

The Vent gl*** I did twice and it's a little more problematic. If you can loosen the pin and pull the vent window out of the frame it goes much smoother. The channel flexes slightly so you can get a flat blade screwdriver into the gap on both sides and gently pry some space. Then you do the mallet tap to pry the top channel off of the window a bit. Then you go to the bottom and do the same. You basically pull and rock it up and down until you get a gap in the corner, then you start prying outward along with rocking it up and down. It takes a while and you'll never want to do it again.

In my case, the vent latch was broken the first time I did it so I had do pry it back out once I had the latch pieces and I got to remember how fun it was the first time. That time was with brand new gl*** too.

I was able to get a door window, a rear window, and a vent twice with this method and didn't even manage to break the cracked original so take your time.

I warm it with a propane torch and it releases pretty easily. (Warm not real hot)
