I know they have to exist but if my mind surves me right, I've never came across a 40-50's 4x4 Pickup? Anyone here have a rat rod/4x4 hill truck? I'm in the market for a new truck (hopefull 50's) and I was looking for some idea's.

I used to know a Chumash Indian that had a Forty ford pickup on a blazer frame. It was pretty ratty too. I used to go to mud bogs as a kid so I can recall seeing Caddys, Galaxies, Fiberglass T's and A's as muddders or four by's. Don't have any pics though.

Jeeps were around in 1942. Dodge made lotsa power wagons in the 40s-50s, both civvie and military. NAPCO and I think Marmon-Harrington(?) made 4wd conversions for trucks in the 50s, maybe earlier. Chevy started building their own 4x4s in 57, but NAPCO conversions on them were popular starting about the mid 50s.

I wouldn't consider any of these to be "rods".....of course some guys were hopping them up back then, but they were not common

wish I had a pic of it but I don't.here in the town, there is a guy that thinks he's Elvis.dresses and acts like him 24~7 even sings at parties and such.he drive all kinds of wild junk ,like 69 big block vette that has been monochromatic black primered everything on it.Willies wagon,ol school 32 and the one I see the most is a 49 Ford truck with a super nice body,4x4,sitting way high with a set of 38" mudders under it.everyone around here knows about him,but can you picture the look on someones face as Elvis jumps down out of this Ford and starts to walk into Walmarts or somewhere

  11. Yeah the ol military trucks look mean but ya gotta have the right wheels and tires on em, gotta be original.

I damn near got a 52 chev pickemup that was a 4x4 one time. Someone should be able to help me with this: what was the name of that company back in the 50's and made trucks into 4x4's? You could ebay search that company name and I bet you'd find quite a few.

I wouldn't call it a hot rod though but that's just me and no two people's definition of the term "hot rod" is the same.

Who has a picture of Doc Chop's (I think...) old Model A sedan that was on a 4x4 chassis? That thing was awesome.
