Art & Inspiration 1940 Ford's - Deluxe or Standard?

I was reading Mark's post about the 81st. anniversary of the iconic 40 Ford and seeing all the cool cars, reminded m of the 40 Fords I have had in the past, every one I ever owned was a Deluxe Model but in all honesty the Standard front appeals to me more tan the Deluxe.

With that said there is a lot of 40 Ford guys here on the hamb, what's your take on it? HRP

 

Mine's a DeLuxe but, I think the Standard front grille and hood contour makes Standard appear sleeker.

 

They both really look cool in their own way.

 

It's kinda weird. I've always preferred the DeLuxe as a restored '40 and the Standard as a Hot Rod. I love 'em both though and there are always exceptions to the "rule" for sure. Good thread, Danny. Curious to listen to the various responses.

 

I don't like the painted Standard headlight doors as much as the Deluxe ones. Other than that, I'd take either one.

I'm a Standard guy all the way. Have owned at least one for the last 40 years.

 

I'm a standard guy also, currently have a standard coupe which I really like. Many years ago I had a deluxe sedan which was nice but I kept putting dents in the front chin. If I could have my choice it would be a 39 deluxe coupe. Sleeker grille, great headlights and more tasteful side trim.

I’ve got a purrty merc , but Delux or Standard are both gorgeous, 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other.

 

Im either or . Really like em both, normally one of the last things I'm looking at when admiring someone's 40 ford .

They’re all beauties IMHO,I prefer the standard grill but there’s plenty to be said for the Deluxe interior appointments.

 

I've had several all Deluxe's but I'd take either. Maybe someday I'll get this one back on the road! (That's all I really want......)

I have had many 40’s, all deluxe until my current 40 coupe which is std. I have a current 40 sedan project. I have a deluxe hood and grill and also a std hood and grill for it and change my mind weekly. As far as headlight doors and dash trims, As anyone who knows my coupe with its 39 body side trim knows that I am a mix em up kind of a guy.

 

I prefer the standard but then we got ours when I was 10 years old. I prefer the grille painted too. I think the color can make a big difference there though. I also like the standard dash better. Instruments are too cluttered on deluxe. In high school, I drove a '39 Deluxe with '40 trim, wheels, headlights etc. Banjo steering wheel and stock '39 tail lights. Best of both worlds!

Without question, I like the Standard best.....unless it's a 39, then I like Deluxe.

 

That's easy, I have one kid. And favorite car too, I have one old one! Lol.

I lean toward the deluxe if I had to choose.... After looking a few times.

 

I have to say I love them both equally. Can't go wrong with either model. They both have their charms.

Like most guys here, I love em both but I’d have to say, given the choice, I’d take the standard. For me, the deluxe grill is beautiful but complex while the standard is elegant in its simplicity. But I think I’d add the second taillight though.

 

Being a long time Deluxe owner I spent years with a luke warm feeling toward the Standard. But over the years the Standard has grown on me and I now like them both equally.

I've had one of each. I'll take a Deluxe 10 to 1 over a standard.

 

All that I've had have been the Deluxe version... But they're both great looking cars!
