Step 973?

Put off messing with the header panel for about 9 years. Literally lose sleep about it on occasion because it's going to be such a colossal task. Anxiously send text messages to friends and family to ask their advice on how to fix this huge unsolvable problem.

 

Step 974.

Cut stuff. Hit some other stuff with hammers. Weld the things. The header panel is fixed in, like, a day and a half, and some of that time was spent watching Project Binky on YouTube.

Turns out it wasn't that bad to do.

You knew that. Obviously.

 

Alfa & Romeo are not Italian for Clutch and Brake but they stuck the gas pedal between them, just a thought. Bob

 

Wow thats tight. Sure hope you never have to change the clutch.

 

Don't worry, I plan to drag this project on until the end of time so changing the clutch shouldn't be a problem.

 

Too late for many of us to worry about finishing a project, the thought of changing anything in the future just slows down whatever progress we can make in the present.

Hey @anothercarguy I'm not quite dead yet...

I've been hacking out the dash and doing other dumb stuff, I'll post up tomorrow maybe...

 

Regarding the pedals, I found this thread on YouTube about this place in India that makes an electronic semi-automatic clutch conversion but can never get the link to it to work. Guess I need to make friends with East Indian people with family back in India.

 

Had to read that twice, the link that doesn't work is to the YouTube, not the clutch.

 

This is so cool... did you even use an olds rear like mine? Almost like im copying you! Except factory frame. Dodge and 303 olds engine...same amount of metal work sadly...mine came with a 2" chop from back in the day even!

 

Just checking in the latest updates on life hitting you in the nuts.

 

Not too many ball taps, but plenty of questionable decisions.

 

Step 985:

Sell the Panhead. I'm not a bike guy, I just wanted to build one. So that's done, it's off to Australia. Now I have extra money to responsibly invest and save for the future.

Step 986:

Go to California on a road trip. Buy a stripped out '55 T-bird you really don't need while you're out there. Curse at your friend for making you a good deal on it.

 

Step 987:

Double down on your stupid decisions. That stripped down '55 needs lots of parts. Just makes good financial sense to just buy another complete car for parts, right?

It's difficult being the smartest man alive.

Step 988:

Realize you have 2 bare metal cars stuffed into your two-car garage and a mid-sized blue pile of junk outside lowering your property value. Accomplish nothing for a month or two. Don't take pictures of the situation because it's really annoying.

Rewind to step 986:

Hack out the original dash. Start installing a Nash Metropolitan dashboard. Make some real nifty progress before the stupid T-birds clogged up the garage.

Seems Mr. Sparkle has been on a health kick. No mention of bacon in quite some time.

 

Please don't get distracted, and build a kids pedal car around the grille and headlight section you just sourced.

Step 989:

Trade those two little piles of 1955 Ford distraction for one big pile of 1961 Buick! Yeah, that's a smart move! Pat yourself on the back!

Yes folks, those flaky chrome round things are genuine Foose wheels, worth nearly tens of dollars in scrap aluminum!

No brakes and the PNDLR shift pattern make for a lot of fun when you panic and damn near plow into the garage. Good to know it can do a reverse burnout when desired.

 

I didn't even think of that! I've been really good at finding distractions so far, but I'm putting that on the list.

 

Bacon is old news. My new passions are White Claws and Reisen Chocolate Chews.

 

So.....your thread says '33 Plymouth. The dash you cut out is from a '34! Did I miss something somewhere?
