Been working on our first custom. It's a 64 G-Man Car as opposed to the usual SUV, minivan etc. I know, it's got 4 doors and posts no less! But that's the whole idea, family custom, and it's coming along. When I found it four years ago it was just what I'd been looking for. No rust and still tight after all those years. I think they need to bring the X Frame back. It was still rattle and squeak free, these are great cars!

First I had Dave at Hi-Purr engines in ABQ take the 327 out, bore it 40 thousandths over, put in a balanced 350 crank, ground stock heads as big a the in and out ports can go, put in a 262 extreme energy cam for the highest torque available. He did a great job. After run in and some play’ in around, she puts out exactly 180 PSI on every cylinder. Used a 575 Speed Demon Carb after realizing that Demon carbs flow way higher than rated, (expensive lesson) so go small on those things! Had to modify engine mounts as they were 1/8th" too low for pan and frame. Went with the electric cooling fan and that is much better! Nice, quiet. Fitted 2 1/2" dual exhaust with Flowmaster 50's, sounds good! Replaced all body to frame mounts and also all suspension bushings (this car has a lot of those). Hippo Lined entire frame and underbody. Purchased a built 700R4 trans, shortened the mid drive shaft, installed disc brakes all around and 2" dropped spindles up front. Welded shut all 2-300 body and dash trim holes (lots of those too), along with door handles for the shaved look. I'm sure I forgot some.

Any more advice or help in ABQ for door poppers?

Man this cars long (17.5') but is starting to look good. So, I thought I'd better share, since that's what this place is about and I've learned much here! Family guy with responsibility so this has been slow going. About 4+ years so far, but I feel like I see some light out there somewhere.

Enough jibber jabber. Here are some pics.

That was my first high school ride, except mine was emerald green/white top and was juiced up on some supremes. Love the color, what wheels and tires are you going to be running? Keep up the good work she looks great so far.

Thinking about torque thrust 18's, maybe 20's but if the tires are too low profile I'll have rim damage.. So probably 18s, have to buy soon since the disc brakes are on, and the old rims won't fit anymore.
