It's in the top two of my favorite pre war Fords. Not that it makes a difference.

  16. IIRC, '29 thru '41 designs were a collaboration between Edsel and Gregorie. Some damned nice contemporary, timeless designs, done over Henry's objections. The question is, though... HOW did FoMoCo come up with the questionable design they hung Edsel's name on?

First hot rod was a 39 deluxe coupe with a nailhead back in 1970. Always wanted another but settled for a nice 40 standard.

My Dad was a ragtop man, I'm more of a hardtop/coupe/sportsroof type of guy. He said he leaded the hood on this one to eliminate the trim and seam down the middle. Can't see that in this mid to late 40's photo. He's long gone, but he'd agree with you on the beauty of the '39. original_e915501a-36e6-4c22-b36d-6416ce2ec368_IMG_20201205_131041.jpg

A 1939 coupe is what I decided on vrs a 1940 coupe.....that 1940 sedan avatar just wiggled it's way in....because it was pretty darn solid !
