Went to a family reunion for my wife's dad's side........there just happed to be a 1/2 mile dirt/gr*** go-cart track and I drove the Beater. 30' roosters off the Firestone knobbies made the neighbors come see what was goin' on. Also, 13 yr old Cole confirmed the Flatty made a bit more power than his go-cart. Defintion of fun.
Beyond that, went to a kick *** show downtown FLint on Sat and fixed my ****py rear brakes Sun.

Friday night I modified a SB mopar sfi balancer for my hemi by cutting a new keyway. Used the lathe.

Saturday I tore the front of the hemi down and checked the cam timing. I had problems putting the new balancer on. Took quite a while to realize I hadn't cut the keyway deep enough. Found a bunch of little things wrong. Spent the entire day tinkering on her. Other than an oil change she's ready for the drags. :)

Spent today running a 103 fever and laying around the house. Yuck!

  3. Not On Topic, but went to the AMC show at Greenmead (Livonia) today... had to talk dad out of a 72 Hornet, only cuz it was a six.:D

I did bolt a manual steering box in my Duster today, the first thing I've done to it in 15 years... at least it counts as time in the garage, right.;)

And, for some reason, I ran into alot of people today I haven't seen in a long time, in different places. All car guys from my past... kinda freaky, really.

Well, I can't really say I got much done in the garage....
I did get married this weekend, so I figure that deserves a day or two off. :D

got a motor mount installed in clarence. so now i can run at the hamb drags. i may even take out the toolbox, spare tire, and empty the glove box and try to break the 20 second barrier. if i get really ambitious i might buy a set of plugs and put the new ones in after arriving at the track saturday.

and i went over to MoRodder's house and picked up some stuff that's getting hamb relayed to the drags for g***erdriver.

I cleaned all the **** out of my behind-the-barn find '56 Chevy, sold the 350 blocks in the trunk to a stock car guy and I'm planning on listing the 70's bucket seats and console that was in there on eBay to recoup some of my money if I could figure out what they're from.

My weekend was actually tues, weds, thurs. I finished cleaning out the last of the old VW stuff I had all in my shop. Made a bit more room in my small digs. Did a little more work to the trans tunnel in the 32 but with the heat index hovering around 106 by noon I was spent....

  16. Shop cleaning on Sat. Local car show on Sun. Hard to find a decent old time Hot Rod at the shows up here.

The final thrash to get the caddy to the drags continues. Made a trans x-member with some steel I got from Roothawg, fabbed up some misc brackets, installed radiator, fan, ps, alt, trans cooler, etc. Got a bunch done and am pretty much down to small stuff left. Still need to put steering column and gauge cluster in, figure out and hook-up shift linkage and TV cable, bend some lines for trans cooler, take a shower and head to MoKan.

Pulled the transmission on the Comet so I can finally get it rebuilt. Took me about an hour. You'd think I'd pulled five transmission from this car in the two years I've had it or something...

Saturday I re-reskinned (welding lesson learned this time, hopefully) the driver's door on the '39, and did a little electrical work on the Fury. Sunday afternoon, I plumbed the rear brakes on the truck, threw on some junk rims and tires, and rolled what's together out into the driveway so I could clean up the garage. Hopefully the cab will go back on sometime this week--even if it's just for moral encouragement--I'm tired of looking at it in pieces. Before I quit for the night, I painted some parts with Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator. That is some nasty stinky stuff on a hot day. I've learned to only use it at the end of that day, otherwise it'll stink you out of the garage. I poured some of it into a Big Gulp cup last night, and it ate through it in five minutes.

I got the last of my head bolts in, stupid parts place, to finish the top end of my engine rebuild that I started last weekend. Got it almost all there but my dampener puller messed up some of the crank threads so I need to get a tap to fix them. That kept me from adjusting all of the rockers which kept me from putting the valve covers on. And since I didn't have a torque wrench that had inch/lbs, I had to hold off on torque-ing the intake. It ****s not having the right tools! Have been squirting some paint on my inner fenders, to take the edge off the points in the bed linner that is on them! That **** is sharp! (herculiner) Did a little prep on the body of the trans to squirt some rattle can paint on it.... mostly for ****s and giggles.

Worked on the Buick brakes myself . . . fixed a minor boo-boo on what primary shoe is and secondary shoe on drum brakes. (Primary shoe in this case is acutally smaller then the secondary . . . go figure!) I was pretty sore after all the moving about -- weekend before I wrenched by back pretty good. I startedd to get the brakes bled, but then I had a bleeder stick on the driver rear. Got frustrated, went to put up shelving in garage and had one of those "drop you to your knees" back pains. Laid up rest of the weekend -- watched "The Worlds Fastest Indian" on big screen for once.

  28. Not a damned thing that's important.
I waited around for a guy to come pick up some dizzys never heard from him so I guess he changed his mind.
Moved some **** around in the garage and spent an hour or so looking and listening real close to a 283 that's replaceing a 307 in a '60 Elko of a buddy of mine. it needs a little work but it looks like its going to be good change for the old beasty and it'll at least be closer to right for a trad '60s style Elko. Sure glad he decided to go trad driver with it instead of the high buck latemodel route.
