No Surf called me and Hiboy 32 up on the phone to say the Rolling Bones shop guys were stopped in Omaha for the night. They are on their annual pilgrimage to the Bonneville salt flats in a couple chopped 32, 3 windows, a 29 roadster, a 29-30 Nash sedan and a van pulling a trailer full of a deuce roadster racer. The race car [might be a 30-31 roadster...it was dark] has a full house flatmotor with Kong heads and a hilborn injection setup on it....runs alcohol. They're gonna go after a record in the 160's.... I met up with Hiboy 32 and Carkiller at the motel parking lot at about 9:30 or 10 pm...had the motel clerk call those guys up in their room to find they were all asleep, except Paul [Hiboy Paul] who came down to shoot the **** with us and pretty soon one of the other guys came down too. I apologise for not remembering his name but I'm damn lucky to remember my own name sometimes.... We got the full-boat guided tour of their cars and the racer in the trailer...very impressive! We even scored a couple Rolling Bones license toppers from the guys, wished them well and let them get back to sleep....nice guys. Nobody brought a camera but paul clicked off a photo of all of us gawking at the race car in the trailer....Hope he posts it later........ BTW....hiboy 32 drove his 32 to the motel in the rain, in the dark with no wipers, no charge system and model A headlights. What balls he has. Rocky
Very cool you guys took the time to greet this group in Omaha. Way to go Jeff, I dont imagine any other car clubs in Omaha drove there cars over there in the rain. Uhh did you all forget my phone # ??? Gary
I am glad you guys got to see the cars. The roadster/racecar in the trailer is a '32. That Jeff guy is K-Razy...
Well, somebody better be puting up some pictures of this years pilgramage to the salt from NY. Last year it seemed we had pictures of every mile. Someone in the group has got to have a camera, so lets see some traveling shots. Frank
Well Rocky, I made it home. Killer trip, was like a dream , only it was raining and it was dark and I didnt get anyone else called and I didnt get to ride in any of the *****in cars and..... well it was too cool. Sorry Gary, I was going to call on my way there, the cell phone was dead and I dont seem to have an operating charger. I did take some really ****py pics, did I mention it was dark??? jeff
Yes, Peter Vincent went with them. And it is chronicled in issue#32 of The Rodders Journal. Thanks for posting the pic!
Streetart here , I answered the phone when the motel clerk called , We had polished off our daily 150 dollars worth of corona and wings , It rained like hell the next morning and we left (as usual) all the way to brearfast 100 miles away , There was no whining except for the sound of a quick change rearend... I took 150 pictures of the entire trip ,to be developed this week , ,It was a safe trip and you cannot put a price on a good time ...
peter vincent met with us in Bonneville , Streetart took the pictures this year , 35 mm, not digital (nothing like a hard copy), Several imbarrising moments were caught on film ...
Unfortunately I didn't take many pics this year....I seemed to forget the camera whenever something cool was goin on....haha
I cant wait to see some pictures. Maybe next I can tag along when you guys p*** through, that would be so cool!! Glad to here the trip went well. jeff
