Hey fellas, long time looker first time poster. I've been searching through the journal for a few years now, mostly for the traditional hotrods and seeing how they are built. I'm a young guy at 32, but I was raised around classic cars. My dad has had chevelles, novas, thunderbirds, etc. Mostly 60's "muscle" cars, but my grandfather always had the stuff that made me drool... 59 merc, 59 caddy, 40 ford, model a's and it always got my blood pumping helping and watching him work on them. He pasted away when I was 15 and he always was buying selling and trading cars, except one... His father, my great grandfather bought a model a brand new from the dealership and it was the only car he never once would even entertain a offer on, but he had always told me he wanted to hotrod it like he would have as a young man but couldn't because it was his dads. Well I have acquired the car from my grandmother after many conversations/begging. She wants to see someone in the family keep it going and make memories in themselves, and I have been the only one asking about it ( since I was around 10) I know my grandfather could never hotrod because his dad was proud of it, but I want to build it like he would have back in his younger day, with my own twist here and there. Sorry for the long post, i know its drawn out.
So cool that the car has survived all of these years. You have a rare opportunity to fulfill your grandfathers dream of hot rodding his dad's model A!
Thanks guys, I'll be going to get the car while I'm home for Christmas this year. Its a short little 1800 mile one way trip! But he had collected some parts for the car with some older hotrod parts, so I'll scrounge through what he had and bring what I can back with me
Thanks thanks, i've been gathering some parts for it here and there as i find good deals on them. Really looking forward to it!
