Does any one know of a shop that actually stocks parts for the Richmond street 5 sp. The trans has been discontinued and Richmond does not stock and is no longer going to make the part and has no substitute for it. Most company's Jeg's, Summit, speedway (and other listed on Ebay) list it but they do not have it they just drop ship from Richmond who no long makes the gear. I have bought 6 different one through ebay and am getting the same story no longer availed (but off course they kept listing them go figure) The gear I need for a customers impala is second gear- main shaft, part # 2371833. Some how knocked 4 teeth off it. I got the lower gear #2551862 last one from Richmond
That is the 5 spd [doug nash] with the 5th gear being direct? Sad they discontinued, really nice ratios..As long as the second gear ratio is the same [2.13/2.14] the mainshaft second gear in the 6spd ROD should be the same..
I asked the Richmond tec and was told they had nothing that would work. Only thing I can think of is they changed the sincro part of the main shaft gear for strenth
I really hate to hear that,, I have a Richmond 5 speed that I was going to use in a project,,Maybe I need to sell it now before I go thru the trouble of setting it up in the car,,That sucks
There was a member trom Hawaii (up country Maui IIRC) that had some issues with his Richmond 5 speed in his 55 Chevy. I think he replaced it with a 6 speed, he may have parts. I think he goes by 55 gasser or the like.
That's Willy, AKA 2Loose, with his 4 door, blown Olds powered, 55 Chevrolet model 150. Calls the car "Patches" named by his grandkids. I remember his troubles with the Richmond over on ChevyTalk.Org. He probably still has the trans. There was a British Columbia, Canadian that had a Richmond listed on the Seattle area Craig's List for a while about a year ago; it was in pieces however. Maybe it's time to go more 'traditional" with a 4 speed?. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
That's him, don't know where I got 55 gasser. Butch, I've been a lifelong 4 speed guy and when I saw how the oem's were bringing big money because of the musclecar deal I went with a new Richmond Super T-10 4 speed. This was many years ago when they were about $1200 and now I see they are up to nearly two grand and I still think that would be a bargain as they seem to have a good reputation for reliability besides having quite a selection of gear spread choices. The decision also should be based on the engines' torque output as each trans has an advertised torque handling capability.

Hi! I have the same problem as "Gasser1" but I have a broken gear in my Richmond 6-speed. The gear I need has partnumber #2522822 and is a 22-tooth cluster gear. I conntacted Richmond and it is no longer avalible, but it is listed at Summit and Jegs for example but out of stock. Anyone knows where to look for a replacement?
You could try Liberty Gears, they had components for the racing Doug Nash version of tranny's at one time.
If I planned to use the tranny in anger, I would sell it and buy something with available replacement parts.
HI, try Rocland Standard Trans rockland ny ,S+K Speed and D+L trans, both on Long Island NY .. used all of them a while back on 3,4,5,+,6 speeds they had the parts. try....
Thank you for your responses! I made contact with the companys named above and the ones that replied so far did not have the gear I am looking for unfortunately. "Truckedup" made a fair point, I did not know parts where this hard to find until now...
Liberty may not have one in stock, but they will make one if you talk to the right person, and pay the right price. It won’t be a stock replacement, but a custom billet.
I would probably buy a billet one if that is a possibility. Liberty has not responded yet, so I am still waiting for them to get back to me.
I almost forgot about this thread, and the gearbox is now repaired. I ended up with a gear made locally by a machineshop that build complete gearboxes for rally. I also got a reply from Richmond and they said that they will start manufacturing spare parts again for the six speed, but when was uncertain.
Hey, Jacob; Spread the word, man! Who was it, at which shop, located where, contact info? A bonus would be a pic of said part(s) & approximate price. If for no other reason, than future searches. There will always be someone who needs a good machinist, maybe these guys are it. & Richmond isn't the only trans that needs better, &/or NLA parts. Shipping across the world isn't cheap, but maybe a better alternative than nothing. . TIA. Marcus...
Yeah,,,,I have a Doug Nash Competition 5 speed,,,,,,parts are a little difficult to come by . I have several new gears,,,and other parts,,,,but it’s always good to know of another source . Tommy
The company is Sellholm, http://www.sellholmshop.se/ The gear cost me approximately $800, considering it was a one off piece. Did not take a picture of the new gear before installation unfortunately, but it looked good.
