About a month ago, I caught a glimpse of this little T roadster coming off the highway but alas, I was pressed for time and headed in the opposite direction. I asked a few around town if they knew the car and no one had seen it. Fast forward to yesterday and I spot it about a half a mile ahead of me so I gave chase! I snapped a couple of pics at the light and then headed on my way grinning from ear to ear. As I headed East (the T heading South) I decided to take a quick detour from my work destination to see if I could intercept it from the other direction. Well as luck would have it, I spotted it in an industrial parking lot and decided to take a few quick shots. I did not get a chance to speak with the operator about this bitchin' little T but I am sure our paths will cross again soon!
Make sure you put aside some time if you catch him---That`s Bill Brutsman`s car. I rode around a bit with him at the Salt last year. Bill was a magazine freelancer in the `70s, and is tied up with the Overhauling TV show as well. He is a great guy, always on the go.That roadster ran 170 plus a couple of years ago before it blew. Bill put it back on the street and drives the snot out of it...
I definitely will. It's a super neat car. I'd love to see some pics of it race trim. It appears to have Zeus(?) fastener locations on the dash leading me to believe it had an aluminum cockpit cover. I love that it is being driven around. It has plexiglas side curtains and the top irons are covered with what looks to be packing tape!
T Roadster's on 32 chassis' always get my attention! Look at all that tape on this windshield and the hitch out back. I wish I logged those kind of miles on an old car. Cool!
Hmmm. I guess it is every day that you see a Bonneville car running around the streets in Kansas, in the middle of winter, ha!
Here it is from '09. Picture from Sumner Patterson's Purple Sage Bonneville pages. http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/bvillecar/bonneville-Index.html
Worked with Brutsman at Kenz and Leslie in 73-75. He was building his 29 hiboy back then. He also had the "Assassination" funny car body in his back yard in Boulder.
First thing I thought was, How does he get the hood sides off? But I see Zeus fasteners so must be two piece. That's some quality work right there.
