A group of us are leaving early Thurs morn and heading to Joplin for the drags. Then on Sunday those guys are heading back to Austin, but I am heading out west to The Revolution. I will probably be stopping in Omaha(Sun nite), Colorado Springs(Mon Night), Salt Lake City(Tues), and then on to NorCal(Wed night thru Sat nite) and then down to Ventura for the second day of the primer nats. First of all if anyone needs any thing relayed let me know and make arrangements to get w/ in any of those places along the way and I will be happy to help it along to the next place. Secondly, is there any must see Hamb related stuff in those towns. I will have some time to grab a beer and see some cars before I hit the road on my way west. Looking forward to gettin out of the Texas heat for a bit and seeing a part of the country I've never seen.
You're like a rock band on tour! Awesome. What car will you bless us Norcal and SoCal folks with to see? Good luck on the trip to and from. Ken
cant think of anything other then a bunch of good to know hambers in omaha but a short jog over to lincoln is the speedway museum. its a must see if youve never been threw before. tim
If your into music, ( oh your from Austin , so that was probably a stupid thought ) anyway the Mezcals are playing at Lewis and Clark Landing from 8-11:00 P.M. Here in Omaha. Outstanding rock-a-billy band. Gary
Why ColoRODo Springs...??? I-80 out of Omaha doesn't run that far south... Denver would be first on your trip if you follow the Interstates. Then grab I-70 (to Grand Junction)over the mountains or I-25 and head north (to Cheyenne) to catch I-80 again and into Salt Lake. Not much in the Springs in the way of HAMB must-see, and there are quite a few HAMBbers there, not much else that I know of...but if you're into site-seeing, then there's a ton. Streamline Hot Rod parts is just north of the Springs (about 65 miles) in Denver and that's something to see...and quite a few HAMbers here as well...Skyline Bar/Tavern is here and it's cool...but I'd bet you've probably seen more then enuff bars in your day to want to see another, eh? 40SD thanks for the insight.......Cheyenne Wy it is instead of Co Springs and then on to Salt Lake City. Never been to Wyoming. I am bringing the Tom Orren Roadster(TRJ #27) on this adventure w/ me. Hope to see some of you along the way.
What an appropriate ride! I've been lucky enough to get to see it at Mo Kan last year and a t the LSR this year. What a fine piece of history. jerry
well if Roger hadn't of talked you out of colorado springs, i would have gladly bought you all the beer you can drink, in an attempt to get you to import some of our excellent colorado brews to texas so i could drink some GOOD beer at the next roundup! ok, ok texas guys, shiner bock ain't bad.
And, Steve...after you get to (and thru) Wyoming, you'll probably never want to go back...not much there either...'cept lots of wind...and you are certainly welcome...see ya in Joplin!!! Ray, you talking about Coors...or something else? Just take your own next year..solve that problem...I used to take Coors back to Iowa in my trunk cuz they couldn't get it there...still tasted just as good after a 600 mile trip! R-
I-70 is a great drive, if you are coming this way you're really enjoy the scenery. If you're on I-70, just west of Grand Junction honk as you p*** the Fruita exit! I'll try & wave. There's some neat drives around here, going up on the Colorado Monument is a fun ride, lots of huge redrock canyons & a great view. There's plenty of vineyards & wineries in the area, too. If you're up for an incredible drive that's a bit of an out of the way, there's a neat little auto museum in the town of Gateway. We went to this museum yesterday on a sunday drive & it was pretty neat. Read about the Olds if you get the chance. There's a handful of early cars, but nothing really 'hotrod-ish'... except one billet-monster. Here's a link- http://www.jackrouse.com/work/project-details.cfm?box_id=140 Moab is always cool, about 30 min from I-70. There's some great places to eat; The Moab Brewery, Eddie McStiffs, Pasta Jays, etc, etc. Cruise thru Arches to see some out of this world scenery. Hope that helps, sounds like a great trip in the works!
OK, Ok, I get it now. Didn't know who he was. Anyways me , hell Raiser, Retro Larry and I think 32 Highboy will all be rollin out of Joplin , probably Sunday A.M. and headed to Omaha. If ya need an ******. Gary
I don't know how much time you guys will have but my shop is in Sacramento. Their is always something cool to check out or if any body need any repairs stop on by. We will be glad to help. HELL NO! i'm talking about our dozens of great microbrews! ya think el jefe would mind if i brought them into the continental club?
Micro brews...oh, those the kind that come in those teeny tiny little cans? Awww, you can go a day or two without them in Texas...and I'd bet they have a few of those special brews down there in Austin you just don't know about... R-
El Jefe, the king of roots in the south. Come on up to Omaha on Sunday, Lewis and Clark Landing 8-11. Great food, rods, and music will be in abundance. Charlie
Cool, Sounds like fun, Nothing better then a open car, three pedals and open highway, with nothing holding you back. See you at Mokan
I look forward to hanging out at the drags and back home in Omaha. This will be a killer trip!!! jeff
